Cheryl Gilbert

Cheryl Gilbert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully on March 3, 2018.

Cheryl was born on December 11, 1937, in Butte, Montana. She was extremely proud of her rich Butte heritage and glad to call Butte home. After graduating from Butte High School in 1956, Cheryl married her childhood friend and high school sweetheart, Rich Gilbert, on December 27, 1956. Cheryl and Rich welcomed into their family their son, Rick, and daughters, Tammi and Holli, before moving to Billings in 1975.

Shortly after moving to Billings, Cheryl began her 25-year career as a secretary at Billings West High School, a job that she enjoyed beyond measure. Cheryl cherished the many memories from her time at West and treasured the lifelong relationships she developed with her coworkers and students. It was during this time that Cheryl became a devoted fan of all West High athletics. What a joy it was for her when she could watch her own grandchildren compete for this school she loved!

Cheryl enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking, but her greatest joy in life was being with her children and grandchildren. Holidays were special to her as Cheryl relished these times celebrating with her family. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Davis; and her brothers, Don and Bill, all of whom she dearly loved.

Surviving her are her son, Rick (Lisa) Gilbert; daughters Tammi (Steve) Malby and Holli (Dirk) Smith; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three more great-grandchildren who will soon bless the family.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Reception to follow at Lisa’s Sandwich Den, 2908 First Ave. N.

We will miss you forever, Mom!
