Carl Christensen
Carl Christensen joined the Lord on June 22, 2018, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with a rare cancer.
His mother and father, Viola Flynn and Harvey Christensen, and sister Maria Flick preceded his death. He leaves behind siblings Melody Dahl and Lyle Christensen; along with many nieces and nephews; longtime partner Suzie Thomas; daughters Amy Graham and Abby Mindt; stepchildren Andy, Amy and Jon; grandchildren Kayla, Jensen, Gage and Carly; , great-grandson Theo; and many close friends.
Carl was born in Sidney on Nov. 11, 1946. He grew up working the family farm and then moved to Billings, where he graduated college in May 1971 at what is now MSU Billings with a bachelor of science in education. He served the Billings community for over 35 years at the Water Department, followed by 15 years at the Bureau of Reclamation. He also volunteered at Faith Chapel, Billings Clinic, Alberta Bair Theater and as a tax preparer for low income families in the community. He also loved to play golf and enjoyed dancing at Dance Fever!
Carl was one of the most wise and humble men that have graced our earth! His devoted faith in the Lord guided all his actions and was the compass for many seeking advice and guidance. He will be sorely missed by everyone he touched, but his legacy will live on for many generations!
He will be laid to rest at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park on Grand Avenue in Billings. A service will be held at Faith Chapel in the coming weeks and will be announced in the next few days.
Carl was one of the kindest individuals that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I consider myself lucky to have spent a couple years at MTAO working together. He will be truly missed by many and remembered for years to come.

I will miss Carl very much. Carl was a gem in the workplace for Reclamation, a true leader from within. Carl had a good word and a smile for everybody. He would join my young sons and I occasionally for a round of golf at Peter Yegen. He always had a knack for chipping in and then pretending it was luck. Rest in peace Carl, hope to see you on the turn some day.

I worked with Carl and remember him always having a smile on his face and a great attitude. I had only known Carl for a very short time when our 3rd child was born. Carl and Suzie were so kind to give us a baby gift. I recall being somewhat shocked, but that was Carl being Carl….just a very kind man. Rest in Peace.
Carl was great to work with and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rest in God’s perfect peace Carl….
I worked with Carl at Reclamation. He was such a nice person and always someone that you could talk to and feel that he truly cared about people. I have missed him since he left. Condolences to the family and friends that are left with this hole in their lives. I have no doubt that he is quietly leading a brigade of angels in the good work.

Truly one of the nicest individuals I had the pleasure of knowing and working with. He was such a steady force in our office, always looking at the positive side of everything. He was missed when he retired, even more so now. My condolences to the entire family.

I was a tax volunteer with this quiet yet charming man. I didn’t know him well – didn’t even know his last name. But when I saw his photo I knew I knew him from somewhere, and his sweet demeanor was the strongest part of my memory. Condolences to all.
I will always remember Carl as one of the most dedicated and compassionate individuals I’ve had the priviledge to work with and know. He is sorely missed.

former Area Manager, Montana Area Office, Bureau of Reclamation
I served with Carl in the 592 Ord. Co. Reserves Billings many years ago. We would occasionally run into each other at St. Vincent’s Hospital where I worked and take the time to visit and catch up a little. I remember him as a soft spoken man. Always willing to take a little time and visit.
Carl was a wealth of knowledge. He was a great boss to have at the water department and was missed dearly when he left. And yes I also agree with Susan We were a great family back then.
Your in our thoughts and prayers.

Carl and I worked together at Reclamation and at the Alberta Bair Theater. We both attended Faith Chapel. I will miss him very much. He was a wonderful person to be around and talk to. He was a greeter at Faith and I would give him a hug and visit with him whenever he was there. Rest in peace my friend. Your faith kept you strong and on the right path.

I remember Carl from when I started at the water department in 2001. The best impression I saw was Carl reading the bible in morning every day before work , at work !! We were a great family back then……
He was so positive and genuinely interested in everyone he knew.
He will be greatly missed.
