Pam, Scott, Susan, Freddie, Eleanor and Lester,

It is with great sadness that I write this...I have many fond memories of Beans and will cherish them forever. Even though I wouldn't meet Beans for many years...he's been a part of my life since I was a little girl. My dad talked about his friendship with Beans and would go hunting with him out at Ruby Valley. Finally, in the late '80's, I met Beans for the first time. He came with us on a Cruise. What a fun time we all had.

Years later, it seemed only natural when my dad called Beans to let him know I was moving out to Montana and asked him to keep and eye on me. Well, true to Bean’s nature, he went one step further and welcomed me into his family. I spent a lot of time at your ranch north of Columbus and had many good times and laughs. I will always appreciate his kindness, sense of humor and love of life and of course that devilish grin and twinkle in his eyes.

He loved each of you and I always knew he was a proud dad by the way his face would light up when he talked about you. Bean’s is a great man and brought great joy to the people who were fortunate enough to be loved by him.

Less than a year ago, we lost our father. I wish I could tell you it gets easier but it doesn’t. You will miss him always...and in the most little ways. I know I will see Beans in all of you and in doing so will never forget his amazing laugh and that forever twinkle in his eyes. I’m comforted knowing Beans and dad are together once again and are keeping their eyes on all of us. Take care and may God keep you strong in the months to come.

Dear Scott, Susan & Fred, I'm so sorry about the passing of your dad. I have so many great memories of your dad and your ranch in Laurin. There were a lot of weekends spent at the ranch watching the Cowboys play while hanging out with Susan. Susan and I spent a lot of our time terrorizing Scott (we never could get into his room) or chasing poor Fred out of the living room while we watched girl flicks. There was always something consistent about the Wessel house....Beans always made me feel at home and always made the house full of fun. He was a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.

Judy Bieler-Morrison

Susan, Scott and Fred: I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Since I just lost my dad, I know a bit of what you are going through. Dad used to talk so fondly of Beans and said he was a guy that would stand up for his friends. Many of my Sheridan memories involve Susan so in turn involve the Wessels. Beans was always fun to be around and would always terrorize Susan's friends but it was always in good fun!!! My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.

Pam, Scott, Susan, Fred, and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I'll remember Beans as always smiling. His sense of humor was infectious. Sitting next to him at dinner one night during Susan's wedding in Mexico was the most fun I may have ever had. I think we laughed the whole two hours...by stomached ached for days. Keep the good memories close to your hearts. You all are in my thoughts, and prayers.

Love, Fabs

I was sorry to hear of Beans sudden passing. Having lost my father 3 years ago I can relate. I know my dad, Boyd, enjoyed Beans and running and neighboring cattle with him the Upper Ruby and Warm Springs grazing association and thought highly of his ability as a "cow-man". The 'Beans Wessel stories' were legendary and well known on both sides of the county. Kudos to the author of his obituary -- you were so right about the mere mention of his name brings a smile. It was a wonderful tribute and seem to capture every essense and memorable trait. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He'll be waiting with another ranch in heaven and wondering what took you so long. God Bless. -- Shylea (Van Fleet) Wingard -- Ennis MT

Pam, Susan, Scott & Fred - Beans was truly one of a kind and I am so glad I had the chance to get to know him. I loved my weekly phone calls from him; I knew he would always laugh at my dumb jokes and it was so much fun to smoke a stogie with him when he came to town. I think I called Beans as much as I called my mom when I needed a good recipe... what a great cook he was! There are so many great memories and I will always treasure those as I'm sure you will. I am so sorry for your loss and hope you will find comfort. Love, Suzanne

Fred, Scott, Pam and family. I'm very sorry for your loss. I will always have great memories of my first Montana branding with your family and friends. Bean's always made me laugh and feel welcome. He made and served up the biggest/best smoked prime rib I've ever had. Moving here from out of state, Bean's defined for me what a true Montana cowboy/rancher is. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Much Love Yvette (A.K.A. Lamona)
