Steve, Truly a man that loved the Lord. We rejoice knowing he is now with his Savior. May memories of your husband, father and friend bring you comfort at this time and forever. Customer's from Laurel Mt.
You were a true and positive friend. We loved to hear your greeting (Hey, Hey, Hey!) and the famous word "Terrific!" We will also miss your food prayer: "Father, to you in Jesus' name." We love lots. The Rusho Family
Margret and family, My deepest and most sincere condolences on your loss. Lynn Meade-Larson Huntley, MT
I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Steve. I saw him a couple of months ago and was greeted by that wonderful smile! I have known Steve for a number of years and I was proud to be a sister-in-law. Steve was indeed a very generous person and had a very caring and giving heart. I know his family, extended family and many friends will miss him dearly. I have no doubt that Steve is with our Lord and even though we can't see him, he is just a thought away. To Chris and family- You are in my thoughts and prayers and God bless! Joan Cross
We'll miss you Steve. We have known you for 30 years. You always beamed with your smile, twinkling blue eyes, and great big warm hugs. Your love for the Lord was contagious. We know you are walking and talking with the Lord right now. Sharing stories. You touched many lives in such positive ways. Loved unconditionally. Always had a kind word. I wish more people were like you. Our world would be a much better place. Thank you Steve for your wonderful friendship and love. Bonnie Raitt Burton (AKA: Wright) and family

The son of Malvin and Mary Margaret McKerlich Cross, Steve was born February 4, 1945 in Forsyth. Steve has been a resident of Billings for over 40 years. He was known for his giving heart and generous spirit. He used his business throughout the years to provide and care for people in need and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his loving wife Christine and his four children, Jay, Brandon, Miriam and April, whom he adored. He also leaves his mother, Mary Margaret Cross, brothers Bruce of Moorcroft, WY, Russell of Ninilchilc, Alaska, Donnie and Linny of Arvada, WY, Bob of Billings, Larry and Jerilyn of Gillette, WY and Evan and Sandy of Pine Haven, WY., and sisters Laura and Les Seward of Billings, Ginny Rightmier of Roundup, and Vicki and Don Hugart of Crawford, NE., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Malvin, brothers Ken and David and nephews Randy and Santos. Steve lived his life to the fullest and was always there to greet you with a big smile and bright blue eyes. The best you can say about him is he loved the Lord, he loved his family, and he couldn’t have been a better person.
My beloved husband Steve, you are and always will be the love of my life and our children’s lives. You were truly a saint who helped so many people in so many ways. You were a superb business man who would run the business out of your heart and not always to business protocol. God blessed you always because of your outrageous giving and love to customers and others. We’ll all miss your big smile with the bright blue eyes. We definitely won’t forget what always came out of your mouth when asked “how are you” – and the response was always – Te-er-r-r-if-i-c! You were always so upbeat and positive! We’ll miss your beautiful tender heart and your uninhibited love for God. You worked so hard on this earth with just a few breaks in your big black recliner to watch Fox News and the Reba sitcom. You would stop everything for the needs of your wife, the children (kids), the dogs, the cats, and horses – everything that we needed. We were so blessed and you loved us so much. We miss and treasure you so much. We’ll “see you at the top!”
I miss you so much. I just want to say goodby. I will right you every year on your Bday, on Nov 5th, on Nov 25 & on father’s day. I love you, April. I hope you like it up there.
Dear Daddy, I love you and will miss you so much! You took everyone in, even if it seemed like they didn’t deserve it. You were by far the most generous, kind-hearted man I will ever know. You taught us to be strong, and treat others with compassion, and now you get to be with the one you always loved more than anything, God. Thank you for everything Daddy, We love you! Miriam.
Dear Daddy, You were the best dad anyone could have. You were kind, loving and helped anyone no matter what, including me. You loved us and worked countless hours for us. What you have done, you took me in and loved me and taught me everything I know and I will carry you with me everywhere I go. Dad I miss you so much already and feel lost but I know having you by my side and in my heart I will succeed. I miss you and love you DAD and like you would say to me, I would like to say to you, God bless you Daddyo. I love you Dad. You are my #1 Dad.
Visitation will be 7:30 to 9:00 PM Friday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday at Freedom Church, 550 32nd St W. (formerly First Assembly Life Center) with interment at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. |

Chris & Family, Steve was a true example of a Godly man, and I know that you will miss him so much. What a wonderful blessing it is that we have the sureness that he is celebrating his homecoming with the Lord, and now waits for you and all of us to join him one day! Somehow, that makes it easier to let go. You have my thoughts and prayers, and may our loving Father wrap His arms around you and comfort you as only He can do. Peggy Erickson
I was very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was my friend all these
years since first meeting him (or was it a cousin or mutual frient) at
Eastern Montana College. When I heard he had given his
life to the Lord I was very glad. Now I know he is in a better place and I
rejoice with him. We will miss him, me not so much as those of you who were
around him every day; but please take comfort that he is better off now,
though we grieve his passing. Dennis Huber
Chris & Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I
have known Steve for several years and will miss his great smile. Billings
has truly lost a business icon. Have comfort knowing that he is
with the Lord and you will one day met again. Pearl L. Hoines-Stoner
Chris, April, Miriam, and Brandon, I'm so sad to know that Steve had
to leave your life so sudden and unexpectedly. I know that you can find
comfort in knowing his faith and devotion to the Lord has certainly held him
a special place in heaven the same that he holds a special place in our
hearts. I'm sorry I can't be there for you all in person right now, but
please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Tana
Chris & family: So sorry to hear of Steve' sudden death. I haven't seen you
in ages, but I always thought of you when I heard Steve's advertisements.
Blessings on your family. Linda Williamson (an old client of yours)
Dear Chris, Ron and I just found out about
Steve yesterday, Sunday, December 14th, from Mikey at church. We are shocked
and so very sorry for your loss. Steve was such a great guy! I remember the
New Year's Eve party we spent with you all at the store. What fun we had!
But we will have one HUGE party when we see him again. Please know you and
your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Ron & Kelly Copeland.
I just heard of Steve's passing today, December 16th, and what a truly
sad day it is for me. Ever since the first day I saw Steve on the basketball
court at good ole Colstrip High, He has been an inspiration to me. I looked
up to him at the age of 14, and still do so today at 60. The Cross family
has always been special to me, even from afar these past 25 years. God bless
Steve, his family, and my good friends, the Cross Family. Bob Smith, Creve
Coeur, Illinois
