Virginia Kennedy Mueller

1919-2008

Remembrances

Danny, Diann, Kathleen, Donald, John and TJ, I have such wonderful memories of your family - especially at the cabin on New Years - they really knew how to have a party. Also the time Snow Creek flooded and we could hear the boulders crashing, and the many times we tried to climb to the iron mine. On Princeton I can remember building the Christmas tree forts and the lttle black dog that used to come to the kitchen window when I was doing dishes, waiting for a treat. When I think of your mom it is with mixed feelings - either I was over there getting a tick shot or eating her wonderful cinnamon rolls. Surely a Mueller with continue to live in the house your dad built? My mom has been waiting a long time for her bridge partner. Love to you all. Margaret McVay Nybo

Donald, John, and the whole family,

Into the place of our parents we go. Loosing them and being without them makes them even sweeter to us in our memory. Thank goodness for those memories. My heart is with you.

Virginia Kennedy Mueller, 89 of Billings, died peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital on Sunday, June 8, 2008.  Virginia was born on April 23, 1919, in Billings, Montana to Lee V. Kennedy and Caroline Nies Kennedy.  She was married to H. Joseph “Joe” Mueller on June 7, 1941.  She was raised in Billings, attended the Fratt School through 8th grade and was graduated from Billings High School in 1937.

Following high school, she attended St. Vincent School of Nursing receiving her RN in 1940.  She did Special Duty Nursing and worked for Dr. Maude Gerdes early in her nursing career.  She became a full time Mom and housewife with the birth of her first child in 1942.  When her sixth child was in 7th grade she took a refresher course and spent the remainder of her career in geriatric nursing working at the Western Manor and at Yellowstone County Nursing Home.

Grandma Gingy enjoyed playing bridge and was one of two remaining members of a bridge club that was started in the 1940’s.  She was an excellent cook and baker enjoying making cinnamon rolls and cookies for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  An avid gardener, she maintained two beautiful rose beds.   One of her greatest joys was spending time at the family cabin on snow creek near Red Lodge with her husband, children and tending the rock garden and little trees around the cabin.  In retirement, she volunteered helping children in an elementary school with their reading skills.  She also volunteered for a number of years in the Cherry Nook at St. Vincent Hospital

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her sister Pat Vasser.  She is survived by her siblings Victor, Dean and Beverly; children, Daniel of Libby, MT; Diann (Mich) Wolff, Kathleen, Donald (Sue), John, and T J all of Billings; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Vigil Service with Rosary will be held on Friday, June 27, at 7:00 P.M. in Michelotti Sawyers Mortuary.   Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Pius X Catholic Church with a reception luncheon to follow in the parish center.  Private internment of ashes will be later that afternoon.

At her request, memorials may be made to the Billings Area Catholic Education Trust, St. Pius X Church, or the Billings St. Vincent DePaul. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be left for the family

I have so many special memories of my Aunt Virginia. I remember going to Grandma Kennedy's for Christmas dinner and then to Aunt Virginia and Uncle Joe's for dessert! I had never seen so many people in one house. Kids everywhere, parents having a good time, and above it all, I could always hear her wonderful laugh! Those were the good old days. I loved going to Billings for Christmas! When she came to visit us in Spokane I always knew when she had arrived...again her laugh! Is there anyone out there who didn't have one of her cinnamon rolls? We are all so fortunate to have had such a wonderful loving woman touch our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I will treasure my memories of Aunt Virgina forever!

All my love, Cobe(Kennedy)Alcorn
