Cornelia (Connie) Louise Hawkins

1919-2008

Remembrances

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Connie Hawkins of Billings passed quietly in her sleep Sunday, June 1, 2008. She was born April 11, 1919 in Goodland, Kansas to Louise (Schaaf) and Herman Fischer. Connie was the youngest of three children. Her big brothers, W and Oscar, often called her "Toots". She was a ray of sunshine in the life of those who knew and loved her.

In 1946 Connie married Erskin Hawkins. They shared over 50 years together.  They raised two sons, Stanley and David, in Denver, Colorado. In 1970 she moved to Billings with her husband and youngest son where she made her home. After her husband's death in 1998, Connie became the first resident to move into the newly finished Vista at Mission Ridge. There she set about "training" the staff and directing activities. Connie loved to sing and was very artistic. She loved her church and her country. You could always find a flag on her door and a church service on her radio which she listened to faithfully.

She is survived by her son Stanley (Barbara) of Loveland, Colorado, son David (Barbara) of Billings; 2 grandchildren David (Laurel) Hawkins of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Debbie Sheneman of Loveland, Colorado; 2 step grandchildren Matthew (Stephanie) Rowan of Billings, and Christopher (Twinkle) Rowan of Billings; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren and many wonderful and special friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and her husband Erskin.

Many thanks to Phyllis, Nancy, Carolyn and all the loving workers at the Vista for the many caring hours they devoted to making Connie's life comfortable and happy for the past 10 years. She loved all of you and loved sharing her home with you.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Michelotti-Sawyers and continue until 9:00 p.m.  Graveside services will be held at  9:30 a.m, on Wednesday, June 4, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, followed by a celebration of Connie’s life at 11:00 a.m.,  in the chapel at The Vista, 3840 Rimrock Road.

Mom we love you and you will be sorely missed.
