Roy E. Fly

1917-2008

Remembrances

As Roy's hospice nurse I spent many hours visiting with Roy at Valley and listening to his many stories.

It was a privilege to get to know him and I will miss him very much.

My condolences go out to his family and his many friends.

Mandy Yoder,RN.

Tom & family:

Your Dad was a great friend of the McIntyre family. We will miss him and all of his great stories. I am so glad I was able to spend a little more time with him these past few years, especially one very memorable Christmas at the ranch. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Tom & Family

I always admired Roy for the love he showed for life, the love he had for his wife Marion and his children, the love he had for the land and the joy he showed talking about his friends and his past experiences. He was a wealth of information about the oldtimers of Sarpy. I'll miss sitting in the shade after a hot day of haying and eating the cold watermelon that he had cooling for us all day long. I'll miss him telling us that we were using the wrong hand when fixing equipment and him jumping in to help us with his left hand going a hundred. I'll miss the Saturday evening meals we had together after he went to church. The list of things I'll miss about Roy is too long to share right now. Lord take care of this fine cowboy!

Love

Dear Bob, Tom and Family,

Boy, where does one start regarding Roy. I remember all the trips out to the ranch and Roy giving the Pratt kids heck for not drinking fresh farm milk. After he and Marion got rid of their milk cows, Roy was at Nora Hopes and he had to drink fresh milk, he then said he knew why the Pratt kids didn't like fresh milk! Last fall, Peg, Brandy (my daughter) and myself stopped at Valley to see Roy. It was at lunch time and we were not to leave until he finished eating. All the other old timers around him were giving him heck because he was getting hugs from all these girls! Anyway, he had to eat fast and we had to beat the old ladies over to their favorite spot they sat at every afternoon and boy did we get some looks and Roy was eating it up! He always had us laughing about something and took good care of us kids growing up. I will always cherish the memories of the Fly ranch! My prayers are with you all and he is riding high again!

Love,

Jo Pratt Hart
