Mabel Marie Delmonica

1911-2008

Remembrances

Mabel Delmonica Family,

Mabel was my great Aunt. I remember Mabel when she lived in Bridger and worked at the Maverick. What a nice Lady she was! My memory is not the greatest but I do remember her and also playing with Pam & Kim when they came to visit. Just want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Gayle (DeRudder) Kallevig

Mabel Marie Delmonica went to be with our Lord on August 2, 2008. She was born Jan. 20, 1911 to Levi and Flora Shelmerdine in Burlington Wyoming. The family moved to the Bridger area when Mabel was 6 years old. In 1999 after living about 80 years in Bridger Mabel moved to Kettle Falls, WA to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Larry Smith.

Mabel married George Delmonica on June 13, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; daughter, Karen Hawks; grandson, Garth Delmonica; sisters Grace Phelps and Mildred Schwend; nephews, Erwin, (Corky Schwend), Charles and Robert (Bud) Phelps.

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. Mabel was a wonderful cook, house keeper and gardener. The kitchen was her domain. For several years she was a cook at Bridger Public Schools, and later worked for the Maverick Country Store in Bridger. Mabel was a member of the Bridger Methodist Church and a charter member of the Bridger Auyida Club, which later became the local home demonstration club.

Mabel is survived by her son, Don (Edie) Delmonica of Billings, MT; daughter, Patricia (Larry) Smith of Kettle Falls, WA; stepson, Hank (Alyce) Whitmore of Powell, WY; stepdaughter, Mildred Scott of Glide, Oregon; granddaughters, Pam Hawks, Renton, WA, Kim Copeland (Rory) of Helena, MT, Susan Pond (Wayne) of Colville, WA; grandson, Russ Smith (Karen) of Fircrest, WA; eight great-grandchildren, Trisha Smith, Olympia, WA, Andy, Alex and Emily Pond, Colville, WA, Janae and Stacy Nelson, Renton, WA and Helen and Hannah Smith of Fircrest, WA.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 11, 2208, at the Bridger Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Bridger United Methodist Church, Bridger, MT; the Bridger Library; or the charity of your choice.
