Leighton Herigstad

1931-2008

Leighton Herigstad died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning at his home in Billings.

Arne “Leighton” Davis Herigstad was born September 24, 1928 in Glendive, Montana and raised in Hodges on the family ranch.  He proudly served his country in the Army.  He met and married the love of his life, Lois Sommerfeld on December 16, 1951.  Together they enjoyed two sons, David and Kevin.  Leighton was a very proud grandfather to his granddaughters.      

Leighton loved music, especially playing the piano and accordion.  He could be found at any occasion entertaining friends with his special sense of humor.  Leighton was kept young by staying active with Friday night dinners with the gang.

He worked most of his life as a real estate broker and maintained his interest in real estate until his death.  He enjoyed services at the Good Shepherd Lutheran church and was proud to be a member of the Sons of Norway.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arne and Alida and his wife, Lois. He is survived by his son Kevin Herigstad, Billings, MT, son and daughter-in-law Dave and Jeri Herigstad, Anaconda, MT, granddaughters Jamie Herigstad, Butte, MT, and Jodie Herigstad, Billings, MT, special companion, Betty Palo, Billings, MT and Lois’ brothers and sisters and their families.     

Donations can be made in Leighton’s name to the Good Shepherd Lutheran church or the organization of their choice.               

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 10, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
