Pauline Marie Ferris

Remembrances

 

Pauline M. Ferris was born on a farm in Arcadia, Nebraska to Julia and Samuel Holmes on May 7, 1916. Her elementary school days were in Glendale, Nebraska. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1934.

On December 6, 1934, she married Bill Johnson. He passed away in 1939.

Pauline moved to Lewistown, Montana in 1940 to take care of her sister Julia for two years. While working in a restaurant in Lewistown, she met Vernon Ferris. They were married October 5, 1941. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Illinois where Vernon’s folks lived. Vernon enlisted in the Naval Reserve in January, 1942 and they lived in Great Lakes, Illinois for three years.

The love of Montana lured them back as did fishing, camping and many friends.

Pauline worked for Goodies Spud Chips for 20 years and Vernon was an accountant for the post office. Vernon passed away in 1993. They had been married for 62 years.

Pauline loved cats, one of which was "Punkin" who lived for 21 years. She loved flowers, gardening and was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include her sister Goldie M. Paider of Arcadia, Nebraska, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

She passed away at River Ridge Assisted Living, Eagle Cliff Manor.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
