Virginia Smith

1925 - 2007

Virginia Smith, 82 of Billings passed away peacefully in her sleep at home , October 10th, 2007 where she wanted to be.

Virginia was born January 19, 1925 the daughter of a music store owner in Iowa. She married Channing (Chick) D. Smith in DesMoines, Iowa on June 15, 1947 and in their years together while they worked for the Bureau of Reclamation they lived in Iowa, Illinois, Illinois, North Dakota, Oregon, and in 1976 they moved to Billings, Montana to work for HKM Engineering where they remained. She was a Faithful member of the First Christian Church in Billings.

Wherever the Smith’s lived they ‘Adopted’ families as their own and she will remain an important member of these families.

She enjoyed being an avid rock hound, reading, church, and being a volunteer at the Billings Clinic Dialysis department for several years after the passing of her husband in 1994.

Her husband Channing preceded Virginia in death. She is survived by a sister-in -law Marydell Smith of Salem, Oregon, Two Godson’s Brent Janich of Billings and Michael Haisten of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by her many "Adopted" Families around the country who she and Chick referred to as their "Kids".

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary on Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 at 3pm. Memorials may be made to Billings Clinic Dialysis Department.
