Olive
Henderson Moloney, 83 of Billings was born May 5, 1924. She died October
11, 2007 after a long illness.
Olive was born to John and Mary Henderson in Hebburn on
Tyne, England. She moved with her family to Abernethy, Scotland as a young
girl. She moved to London in 1942, following her half sister, Veronica
Francis, to be a nurse’s aid during World War II. It was there that she
met her future husband, Captain Donald S. Moloney of the U.S. Army Air
Corps. They were married July 22, 1944, in Colchester, England. Mom was a
true "war bride".
In April 1945 she came to America, residing with Don in
Monte Vista, Colorado. It was there that she and Don began their family.
They lived in Colorado until 1968, moving to Great Falls, then moving to
Billings in 1970. She has lived in Billings since then.
Mom’s greatest pleasure in life was her children and
family. She was a devoted mother and wife. She also was a member of St.
Thomas the Apostle Church, involved with St. Rose of Lima Parish Circle.
She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several clubs. In addition,
she was a member of the British Bride’s Club.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her brother
Douglas Henderson, half sister Veronica Francis, and her loving husband
Don. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Cheri) Moloney of Colorado
Springs, Maureen (Bob) Ille of Billings, Moira Ivey of Broomfield
Colorado, Kathleen (Roger) Bernhardt of Billings, Brian (Gail) Moloney of
Helena, Pauline (Jim) Freudenberg of Southport, North Carolina, sixteen
grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by
brothers and sisters in law Paul and Annette Moloney, Marie and "Scoots"
Scoular, Pat Moloney, Bette Moloney, and Elaine Moloney, as well as 19
nieces and nephews.
Vigil Services for Olive will be held at 7:00 P.M. on
Monday, October 15, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Visitation will begin
at 5 p.m. on Monday and continue through the Vigil. Funeral Mass will be
held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 16, at St. Thomas The Apostle
Church. The casket will be closed at church. Rite of Committal will follow
at Holy Cross Cemetery. |
