Bernice Leischner

1918-2007

Remembrances

Bernice Leischner,88, of Billings died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital.

She was one of eight children born December 15, 1918 in Billings to Viola and Ben Balkwill. She grew up in Billings and spent time with her maternal grandmother in Sheridan, MT. She attended school in Billings. As a young woman, Bernice worked for the Goodies Spud Chip Company, a job she was very proud of.

Mom was a "stay at home" mother and person. We could always count on her to be there whenever we needed her. She welcomed all into her home, especially finding joy with the children. She loved working in her flower garden and grew beautiful flowers.

When her nest was empty, she took up bowling and was on a championship team. She was an active member in the American Legion Women's auxiliary and the Women's

Plumbing Association. She spent many years making ceramics and porcelain dolls. She gave these treasures gladly to all who admired her work.

In 2006, Mom became a resident of Magnolia Place. We extend a tremendous thank you to the caregivers of that haven. And thanks, too, to Dr. Blossom and the St Vincent staff who were so kind to Mom and our family during her stay at the hospital.

Survivors include Bernice's four children - Bill Leischner of Yuma, AZ, Barbara I Habovstak (Tony) of Little Valley, NY, Robyn Geffie (Bob Everson) of Billings, and . Sandy Morris (Tom) of Butte, MT.; her 13 precious grandchildren - Kevin, Kyle, Kory, Ryan, Melissa, Erin, Camey, Steve, Clarence, Diane, Jay, Jeff, Kelly; 17 great-grand children; and 2 great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Nelson of Billings and numerous nieces and nephews.

"You'll never forget your mother's face, the sound of her voice, the gentleness of her touch - they let you know you were loved."

Funeral services will be Friday, May 11 at 1 :00 p.m., Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary is in charge with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Big Sky Hospice, or charity of one's choice.
