James E. "Jim" Waldo

Remembrances Jim Waldo, 67 of Billings, passed away March 26, 2007 at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 26, 1939 to Olena "Toots" and Henry "Hank" Waldo. He grew up in Nye, Montana and graduated from Absarokee High School in 1958. After graduation he worked construction in Yellowstone Park.

At age 21 Jim joined the Army and was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He was honorably discharged in 1963. Jim married Shirley Standley on July 3, 1965 becoming a loving father to her three children. They later had 2 more children.

Jim went to Anchorage, Alaska and worked in Prouno Bay as an operator to support his family in Billings. Jim and Shirley divorced in 1982 and he moved to Anchorage and invested money in trucks. Soon after, he met Teri Lenz. They married in 1982 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho and lived in Billings. Jim worked for 6 years under Marv Stanley who was Secretary Treasurer for the Teamsters Union. After Marv’s retirement, Jim took over as Secretary of Treasury for Teamster Local 190 for the next 9 years, retiring in 1996. He then spent his time traveling the United States with his wife Teri and working on the town of Acton, Montana.

Jim Waldo enjoyed Western Movies, Springtime camping in the mountains, moving dirt with his back hoe, and road trips with his special friend Mickey sitting in the back seat. His father Hank was a dear friend and mentor to him his whole life.

Jim lived by his word and was always available to help someone in need. He devoted his life to his family and his wife Teri knew him as "The Love of Her Life." He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by us all.

He was preceded in death by his parents "Toots" and "Hank" Waldo; brother Don Waldo; and his step children, Blain Standley and Donna Standley.

Jim is survived by his wife Teri; sons Roy Standley, and Mike Waldo; daughter Cindy James; brothers Bob (Audrey) Waldo of Columbus and Bruce (Nancy) Waldo of Arkansas; aunt Agnes Porter of Absarokee; grandchildren Elizabeth (Leon), Donnie, Olena (Saul), Jeremy, Anycia (Daniel), Kyle (Marika), Amanda (Jason), Dillon, Anthony, Austin, Katherine, Jessica, Shelby, and Chevy; great-grandchildren, Angel, Saul Jr., Marissa, Taylor, Stephan, Jesus, James, Cesar, Madison, Timothy, and Christian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James E. Waldo’s philosophy was "In this life you have to work hard and live by your word."

Funeral services for Mr. Waldo will be held TODAY, Thursday, March 29, 2007, 11:00 A.M., at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Burial will follow (weather permitting) at the Nye Cemetery in Nye, Montana with military honors.
