| Remembrances
Dear Asay Fasmily, You don't know us, but we have a common friend in Mark Smidt. I'm sorry to say that we also have in common the loss of our dear husband and father (in October 2005). Mark called me a few days ago and shared your loss with me. For whatever it's worth, we know what you are experiencing and our hearts go out to you all at this time. It sounds that (according to Mark), we have much in common and when you feel up to it, please call or e-mail me. I would be happy to give any support that I can. God bless you all during this most difficult time. Our family will be praying for you. With much love- Mary Hansen and family

D. Scott Asay returned to his Savior, suddenly but peacefully, while enjoying an outdoor church activity on Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Scott, a self-proclaimed mountain man, cowboy and trapper, was born February 21, 1957, in Worland, Wyoming. He was raised by a nurturing mother and delighted in the many adventures that came with having a veterinarian father. Scott, who was brought up in the Gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, earned his Eagle Scout rank and served an honorable two-year mission in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and received a Juris Doctorate and an MBA from Brigham Young University. While receiving his education, Scott found the love of his life, LeAnn Sanderson, married her in the Salt Lake Temple, and began a family. From his youth in Wyoming to his life in Montana, he sought constantly to better himself through education, service, work, and recreation. Using his great skills and knowledge, Scott enjoyed a successful nineteen-year career with EBMS. Although he loved his work and interactions there, his heart was always at home on the ranch, or in the mountains where he taught his children the value of a hard days work. Scott was, by definition, a renaissance man who enjoyed the adventures of the outdoors just as much as reading the classics and writing his own. He will be remembered always for his diligent service and leadership in his family, church, and community. Scott’s passing leaves a tremendous void in his home, family, work, and church. His pleasant personality, quick wit, and integrity will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Truly, his life has been a legacy of honesty, hard work, service, and love. He is survived by his eternal companion LeAnn C. Asay; his parents Dave and Char Asay; his brother Mark (Kristin); his sisters Cindy (Dave), Kathy (Ward), and Susan (Jim); and his children Michael (Danielle), Kristen (Tyler), Stephen, David, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M., on Monday, July 30, 2007, at the LDS chapel located at 2929 Belvedere, Billings MT. Burial will follow at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. Visitation will begin on Saturday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary and continue through 9 P.M. Sunday evening. The casket will also be open in the Relief Society Room one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to The Scott Asay Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, LDS Perpetual Education Fund, 15 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT, 84150, Boy Scouts of America 2528 Grand Ave, Billings, MT 59102, or 4-H Club, P.O. Box 35021, Billings, MT 59107.
