She is survived by her nephew Lawrence Gehlken and niece Susan Thornhill both of Clark, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her father, he died when Mabel was only 9 years old; Katherina her mother; August Kipp her step-father; one brother Lawrence Gehlken; and aunts and uncles. Mabel ventured out on her own, leaving Missouri at the age of 18, with just ten cents in her pocket. She picked cotton in Texas and cooked for room and board on her way to Montana. Mabel worked as a cook in restaurants around Billings, owned Mabel's Cafe in the 50's, at 304N.19th Steet. It still stands today. She baked the most delicious pies. Mabel watched bull riding often times with her best friend and neighbor, Marvin Zitzlsperger. She loved all animals. Quilting and sewing was also a great enjoyment of Mabels. Friends are asked to make memorials in lieu of flowers to the Animal Shelter or to the Billings Food Bake. Service will be held at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary on Monday, April 16th, at 10:00. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Burial will be in Cole Camp, Missouri Cemetery beside her grandmother whom had a special place in Mabel's heart.

Mabel
K. Litton passed away in Billings at Tender Nest Assisted Living on April
13,2007. Mabel was born August 3, 1910 in Cole Camp, Missouri, a daughter of
Kord and Katherina Gehlken. She married Ernest O. Litton in Hardin and
divorced after 15 years of marriage. They had no children.
