Eugene Howard Eggebrecht

Remembrances Eugene Howard Eggebrecht, 80 of Billings, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2007. Howard was born in Wolf Point, Montana, on July 5, 1926, to Johnny and Edna (Dillon) Eggebrecht. Howard grew up in the Vida area and later came to Billings with his parents.

Howard made Pauline (Norman) Eggebrecht to be his wife and lifetime soul mate on December 31, 1948, in Miles City. Together, Howard and Pauline farmed at Vida, Montana from 1948 until 1972, and also maintained a home in Billings where they raised their four children.

Howard was highly respected and loved by his family and close friends. He was an entrepreneur, and for 57 years, worked alongside his wife as the foundation of the Eggebrecht Family Partnership. As self- made developers, Howard and Pauline developed Shiloh Village Estates Mobile Park in Billings and the Villas De Luz in Carlsbad, California, as well as several other real estate holdings.

Although his family was priority, Howard’s enjoyments were infinite. Howard proved never an idle soul - his endless energies were contagious, and he was gifted as a charismatic conversationalist. Dynamic and driven, his self-motivation was perhaps best displayed by putting forth a good day’s work. And, as was his energy limitless, so were Howard’s interests, a few of which must include his love for farming, fishing, hunting, boating, horses, cars and machinery. Howard attained his pilot license at the age of 19 and flew his own Piper Cub.

Howard’s great-grandfather homesteaded at Vida during the 1800's, a land which is still held in the Eggebrecht family. Howard held a true devotion for Montana, especially for it’s beauty, heritage, art, weather and hospitality. Howard will forever be remembered as an engaging conversationalist and so kindly a soul who was always ready to lend a fellow his helping hand.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Eggebrecht, and his eldest son, Mark Eggebrecht. Survivors include his sisters, Agnes Berndt, Margie Hinman, and Dorothy Suppes, all of Arizona; son David Eggebrecht of Carlsbad, California; and two daughers Genia Demis of Billings and Debra Demis of Castle Rock, Colorado. Howard was a grandfather to ten grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Just as Howard cherished life and loved his family and friends, so always will his memory be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
