Bee H. Clark, 94 of Billings, died at her home Thursday, July 27, 2006.

The daughter of John and Mayme Hilgenberg, she was born September 3, 1911 in Mattoon, Il.

Bee received a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Illinois. While at the university, she achieved her goal of earning a letter in girl’s basketball in 1927. She was proud of her education, and it was important to her that her children all receive educations.

While teaching in Mattoon, she worked summers in the defense plants during the war. After moving to Billings, she taught at Lincoln Junior High and beginning in 1972 substituted in the Billings high schools for over 15 years.

Bee married B. Edward Clark in Springfield, IL., in June, 1942. They came to Billings in 1947 where Ed worked as a contractor. After many happy years together, Ed died in December of 1971.

A member of AAUW and the League of Women Voters, she was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday School while raising her family. She played bridge with the same two clubs for over 40 years and enjoyed boating and snowmobiling with her family. Mom loved spending time with her family and never lost the spirit to enjoy them.

Survivors include her son Ed Clark and his wife Carolyn of Ballantine, daughters April Padget and husband Barry of Missoula and Dona Bock and husband Keith of Fontana, CA, 11 grandchildren, Sarah and Savannah Clark, Nathan Padget, Genevieve Padget-Slote, Dan, Matt, Rob, and Clay Bock, Julie Hoy, Amy Colbrunn, and Alice Clark , a niece Angel Brauner and two nephews Jack and Gene Chaplin.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.I’d like to leave an after glow of smiles when day is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the way of happy times and bright sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.

Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with interment at Little Big Horn National Cemetery.
