Saline A. “Sally” Berge, 98 of Billings, passed away on March 16,
2006 at St. Vincent Healthcare, of natural causes.
Sally was born on October 8, 1907 in Varney, MT to Enoch S. “Ves”
and Myrtle Wiles. She
graduated from Ennis High School.
Sally started working for the U. S. Department of Defense as a
secretary, being transferred around the United States.
While with the Army, she met Robert Berge.
They were married on November 6, 1943 in Riverside, California.
Bob was a school administrator and principal, and his career
brought them to Billings from Glendive in the 1961.
Sally was a very active person.
She participated in competitive basketball all her life and finally
retired from this at the age of 80.
At that time she used her talents in baking and cooking for her many
friends and family. She was a
long time member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Sally is survived by her many nieces and nephews from across the
United States. She also leaves
behind her dear friend, Nola McCafferty, who has been like a daughter to
her form many years. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; and all of her 10
siblings.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, March 23, 2006
at Peace Lutheran Church. A
reception will follow the service.
Inurnment will be at the Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
