Remembrances

Mary Alice Stripp, 88, of Billings died Tuesday, November 21st  of age-related causes. Memorial services will be 11AM Friday, December 1st at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Mary was born September 5, 1918, in Billings to Edwin and Florence Sackett. She attended Billings schools and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1939 with a degree in Journalism. After graduation Mary was the society editor for the Billings Gazette, and later worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Billings. She married Bert Stripp in 1942, and they spent the ensuing 52 years together.

Mary was a long-time member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church and P .E.O.  During her retirement, she volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital and as a reading mentor in the Billings public schools.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, and her sons Jim, John and Rich.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Susan, of New York and her son. Fred (Judy), of Oregon; grandchildren Greg Stripp and Lisa Stripp Gillis of Oregon, Brandon Volbright and Chuck Anderson of New York. Tegan Volbright of North Dakota, Travis Stripp of Wyoming, and Shawna Stripp of Billings; and five great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Johnson of Helena.

Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Billings.
