Remembrances Juli Reiten passed away at her home on 27 September 2006. She was born 18 Feb 1956 in Fargo, ND to Ossie and Hazel Reiten. The family lived in LaMoure and Wahpeton, ND before moving to Somerville, NJ during Juli’s teenage years. Juli returned to the west she loved, living in Missoula, MT, Wolf Point, MT and Altadena, CA. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Photography at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. After suspending her academic career to care for her father during his last months, she earned a Masters in Liberal Arts at Moorhead State University in Minnesota and a Masters of Fine Arts in Photo Journalism at Illinois State University. Her academic work involved traveling widely, documenting the lives of migrant workers in Texas, the Midwest, and Montana. Returning to Montana, she worked as a computer educator for Rural Education Opportunities in Great Falls. While residing in Billings she worked for Deaconess Hospital in the Psychiatric Unit as an educator, and finally as an academic advisor at MSU-Billings.

Juli loved outdoor adventure including hiking, camping, and hunting. Juli took great pleasure in gourmet cooking, preparing memorable feasts for her friends and relatives. Juli is survived by her brothers Jon Reiten of Billings, Bob Reiten and Gaylene of Oak Harbor, WA, niece Kari Reiten of Berkeley, CA, and nephew Andrew of Seattle, WA and numerous cousins.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date. Juli’s desire was to be cremated and buried in Hastings, ND.
