Don was born January 31, 1926 in
Kansas City, Kansas to Donald Harley Corson, Sr. and Norma
Evans Corson. He lived in Kansas City until 1996, when he and his wife
Margaret retired to Billings, Montana. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1948 and served in the Navy until 1954. In 1957 he graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Don practiced law in Kansas City from 1957 to 1996, many of those years in association with his father. In his career he enjoyed representing the City of Bonner Springs, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, and the Brotherhood State Bank. He served 23 years on the Kansas State Board of Law Examiners and retired in 1996 from the Kansas City, Kansas law firm of Holbrook, Heaven & Fay. Don is survived by his wife
Margaret; children Scott Corson (Kimberly) of Walker, Minnesota and JoAnn
Bacheller (Pierre) of Billings; granddaughters Bridget and Marilyn Corson
and Anna Daron Bacheller; and sister Sue Davis of Iowa City, Iowa. In Kansas, Don may best be remembered for his legal career, his dedication to clients, and his integrity. In Montana, friends and acquaintances will remember his steadfast devotion to his wife. Rarely were Don and Margaret apart. Just days before his death, they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Don was an engineer before he became an attorney, and he passed to his son a genetic fondness for plastic pocket protectors, slide rules, and amazing science fair exhibits. Practically a pioneer in the development of women's sports, he coached his daughter's softball team for three consecutive summers, never losing enthusiasm when the team only won one game in that entire time - and, that game, by forfeit. Since children can't choose their parents, Scott and JoAnn have long been thankful they were born to Don and Margaret and could grow with their love and in their idyllic home. The family gives heartfelt thanks to the staff at Grand Park Vintage Suites for their tireless and compassionate care of Don. Funeral Services for Donald are
1:30 P.M. Friday, October 13th at
Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, Billings, Montana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to charity of one's
choice.
