Gary Warren Rogers
Gary Warren Rogers, age 76, passed away suddenly and unexpectantly at his home May 19th , 2011. He is now with his Lord and Savior. He had enjoyed a game of golf the day before.
Gary was born in Circle, Montana January 20, 1935 to Roy and Helen Rogers. Gary graduated from Terry High School in 1953. He attended college for 2 years at Eastern Montana College (now MSUB) until entering military service from 1955-1957. After an honorable discharge, he married the love of his life and college sweetheart Dorothy Joy (Adamson) Rogers. Gary attended the University of Montana and obtained his undergraduate degree in education in 1959, and his masters degree in education in1963.
Gary’s career in education impacted countless people and his love of kids was evident. Gary was a history teacher, counselor, administrator and principal. Gary spent many years at Billings Senior High. One of his proudest accomplishments was helping to build Skyview High School and serving as its first principal until his retirement in 1989.
Gary loved golf and enjoyed making clubs for his family and friends. Golf was his passion! He and Joy loved golfing and wintering in Arizona after retirement. He was also an avid Montana Grizzly fan and loved to make fall trips to Missoula to watch football games.
Gary loved his family dearly and will be missed so very much! Gary was preceded in death by his father Roy. He is survived by his mother Helen Jamison; his brother Bruce Rogers; his wife Joy; his 2 sons Guy (Julie) and Jon (Aileen); and his grandchildren Kyle, Seth , Amy, and Codi.
Gary is now with our Lord and enjoying the beautiful “back 9”! A celebration of Gary’s life will be at Faith Evangelical Church on Tuesday, May 24th, at 11:00 A.M..
Memorials may be sent to the Billings High School and Middle School “Angel Fund”, in care of the Lincoln Center, secondary education department.

Rogers Family:
We share your sorrow in the loss of your husband, father, grandfather
and friend. Mr. Rogers was such a fine man, who touched the lives of so
many young men and women. We will all miss his wonderful demeanor and
great smile. He was a fixture during our days at Billings Senior. Please
know that he is in a better place, also knowing that he is looking down
on us and making sure that we aren’t hanging around the halls and
skipping class. We will all miss him and know that you are all in our
thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all.

Dear Joy and family.
I have you in my prayers. May the Good Lord be with you during this
time.
When you feel up to it, call –we will do lunch. Donna Dunn
Joy & Family:
I know Nancy will be getting a card and note off to you, but I wanted to
send this to get it there quickly.
Nancy & I were both saddened and shocked when we got the call Thursday
that Gary had died. I know you are all missing him horribly. It will not
help much but I want you to know that Gary was one of the “heroes” of my
(our) life. Any time I was in his presence he was sincerely glad to see
me and interested in our lives. I cannot ever remember being with him
that he was not full of smiles.
I never knew any of you grandchildren, but I am confident that your
grandfather has impacted your lives in a way that will make you all
positive contributors to society and respecters of people, just as he
was. I can only pray that I will be a similar positive contributor to my
grandkids’ futures.
When it comes time for me to leave this earth I will miss those I leave
behind, but one of the glories that lies ahead is reuniting with a
welcoming committee, including your Gary.
While Nancy & I will not be able to be with you all on Tuesday - and how
we wish we could- we will certainly be with you in prayer.
With sadness, but givcing God the Glory in all things,
Lynn (and Nancy) Perey
We are so saddened to hear of Gary's passing. We
have many fond memories of him golfing and our many visits at the Laurel
Golf club, Arizona and Montana. I also have fond memories from Billings
Senior High as I worked there many years with him. He touched many lives
as an educator.
YES, I am sure he is playing and enjoying the "back 9". He shall be
greatly missed by many. Except our condolences at this time

Dearest Joy,
This is such a tragic loss for you, and you will miss Gary immensely but
what a wonderful life he lead. We have only known you both a short time
but have always enjoyed our couples golf games and how friendly you both
were to us. Gary always stopped to say hello, and always remembered our
names. He was such a special person as you are too. We have fond
thoughts of you both and hope that you will continue to come to Arizona
and to your friends there, so we can help you through this trying time.
Our prayers are with you Joy, and we send you our love. Hope we can have
lots of golf games next season with the “girls”. Come back to PEM.
Lots of Love,
Garry and Sharon Fleming
Joy, Guy & Jon and your families: So sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. I have a lot of good memories of Gary and what a nice man he was. Always enjoyed visiting with you Joy and Gary. You & Gary were so helpful when my second baby was born and you took Troy and cared for him while I was in the hospital. I have always remembered your kindness. Know that my prayers and thoughts are with you. Ann (Tennant) Rittal.
We will miss Gary so very much. We met Gary & Joy
through my sister and brother-in-law (Joe and Marilyn Knight) and
enjoyed many evenings of conversation and good food together. Our
deepest sympathy to Joy and the Rogers family. We are sorry we cannot
attend his memorial service as we have moved to Minnesota. Know that you
will be in our prayers and thoughts.
