Thomas Emter
Thomas Emter, 81 of Billings, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Primrose Personal Care Home. Tom was born in Glen Ullin, North Dakota on March 3, 1930 to Mike and Barbara Emter. His father died at a young age which put Tim into the father figure toll for the family. He ran the farm until moving to town.
While driving a taxi cab, Tom met his wife of 53 years, Marge. He worked many jobs over the years but ended his career as a truck driver when he retired from Beco, Inc., where he was also a dispatcher. He made many friends over his working career.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing cards. But most of all, he enjoyed his family and friends. He would do anything for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom is survived by 2 brothers Adolph (Christine) Emter and Gene (Arlene) Emter; 3 sisters Gladys (Clarence) Glaser, Ardella (Leo) Gehring, and Delphia (Jim) Horner; 3 children, Russell, Cheryl (Borge) Bak, and Allan; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Jenni (Kyle) Sargent, Becca, Nick, Ryan and LaShalle; and 3 great-granddaughters, Spring, Jasmine, and Zylie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters; a step-sister; and his wife Marge. Sure hope she’s ready for him!
The family would very much like to thank the staff at Primrose for their love and care of Tom in his final weeks.
The casket will be open for visitation on Wednesday and Thursday. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Cremation will follow the vigil. Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, at St. Pius X Church. Inurnment will follow the reception at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the A-T Children’s Project, 5300 W. Hilsboro Blvd #105, Coconut Creek, FL 33073, which helps children diagnosed with Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a condition which affects Tom’s granddaughter LaShalle.
