Remembrances

I'm so sorry to see Bart passed away. I used to cut Bart's hair when he lived in Bozeman. He was a great guy, I'm sure he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

“No Time To Say Good-Bye”

Life granted me no time to say good-bye,
No time to say good-bye, my distant friend,
Though life has granted love its time to cry,
A time to feel the truth that all must end,
But with all ends, beginnings, openings
Through windows shining light from either side,
Where souls beyond this life, of spirit wings
Regained of flight, eternally abide,
Attend beside the grieving, warm with love,
And more alive than we within this flesh.
With open heart, I cast my gaze above,
‘Til open wide, receptive souls enmesh
In timeless realms we call “eternity”
Where time to say hello is granted me.

Back when we were wild adolescents, Bart and I both showed up to a party in U.S. Navy pea coats, and I reconnected with a kindred soul, and when I shivered to my bones, he traded me coats. His was longer, finer, warmer – an officer’s coat as opposed to my enlisted member’s coat, and he handed me a cigarette and told me it would warm me from the inside. Such was the warm and caring spirit of one of the nicest people that I have ever had the privilege of sharing time with in this life. He will surely be greatly missed. My heart goes out to those closest to him: Therese and their children (sorry I never met them), Marcia and Jamie, his father, his friends and all whose lives were enhanced daily by his physical presence. He is still with us; he is just much more difficult to see.

Hi Therese!
I just want to write a little something now before I send you a card and a package within a week. I think it has been about 10 years since I have seen you last. I am in utter shock and disbelief as I am sure everyone is. I am so very sorry for you and your children and the rest of the Bieber family! I personally have always looked up to Bart and will always remember and treasure the special memories we all shared together. He was always one of our Youth Leaders and his faith was one that I will never forget - always strong and never waning! Bart loved adventure! I vividly remember him bodyboarding in Kihei with the youth group and will always remember our Swinging Bridges hikes in which he laughed his head off bouncing the bridge when we walked across it. The countless hikes and campouts will not be forgotten as well as our fun San Antonio, TX Lutheran Youth Gathering in '95. He was true leader and a beloved friend. I miss him sooo much and will always love him...and yo! u! You are all in my thoughts and prayers and all of our thoughts and prayers on Maui. Please do not hesitate to call or contact me if you need anything.
Love to you all!

On behalf of the College of Nursing at MSU-Bozeman. We were deeply saddened to hear of your loss last week. We just wanted to let you know that you and your family continue in our thoughts and prayers. It must be difficult to lose the one who was so supportive of your getting through your nursing education and seeing you graduate and work as a Registered Nurse. Thanks, too, for giving back to the College of Nursing as a preceptor this summer. It was so appreciated!
