Remembrances

I became acquainted with Herb in the mid 1960's when he delivered gasoline to me at the Wild Horse Port of Entry NW of Havre, where I was a US Customs Officer for 25 years. He was a good friend and I was very sorry to have his service end when I understood Texaco discontinued their bulk program. Vaya con Dios, Herb.

Mary, Carol Joyce Susan, I am sorry to hear about Herb, I will never forget him. Every time I drive by the old house, it brings back so many memories of my childhood. I also remember once at the Texaco station at the bottom of the street, I was with my dad and he was filling up his pick up he told me to turn the key to see how much fuel was in the tank. Well being very young I turned the key to far, the pick up jumped forward and the gas pump was torn from the machine. There was gas everywhere… Herb happened to be there checking on something and came out and gave me a hug and told me not to worry about it accidents happen.
He was a great man; he will be missed by so man.
Love you guys

To The Armstrong Family
I moved to Havre in 1967 as an apprentice barber and didn’t know anyone in town. I always appreciated Herb getting right into my chair and visited with me as if we were old friends. Herb was always a favorite customer in the barber shop because of his considerate attitude. The world was a better place with Herb here.
