Angela Hogan Rector
Minnesota native and longtime Billings resident, Angela Hogan Rector, passed away in the early morning hours of January 18, 2011 at home, at peace, and with family at her side.
Born April 16, 1916, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to John and Helen Hogan, Angela spent her childhood in the Twin Cities where she graduated from Washburn High School. She went on to study at the University of North Dakota where she earned Bachelor Degrees in both Music and Art. While there Angela pledged the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and just recently received recognition for her 75th anniversary as a Chapter Sister. It was at the University that she met her late husband, L. R. "Louie" Rector and were married February 5, 1940. His lifelong career in the cattle industry led the young couple to Chicago and subsequently to Montana.
Angela was an accomplished pianist who performed not only for personal enjoyment but for the pleasure of others as well. She traveled extensively with family and friends and it is her unique and creative collections of matchbooks and sand from around the world travel that remain a visual reminder of her many journeys and a reflection of the high level of adventure and enthusiasm she enjoyed in life.
Angela valued being a member of St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral, the Hilands Golf Club, several social groups and travel organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louie (1992); and brother Martin Hogan.
Angela is survived by her children Lewis, Jr., Mary Jeanne, John, Marilyn, and Bill, as well grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth, Patrick, Jeffrey, Maribeth, Chloe, and Riis. Angela is also survived by her caring sister, Jeanne Lucien.
A gracious and spirited lady, Angela will be deeply missed and remain forever in our thoughts and prayers.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral.
Following, there will be a reception at the Hilands Golf Club and Angela cordially invites one and all to join in for some Irish fun.

To thine own self be true…A wonderful piece advice that you declared often and believed strongly. Love you! Elizabeth Rector
"There are stars who's light only reaches the
earth long after they have fallen apart. There are people who's
remembrance gives light in this world, long after they have passed
away. This light shines in our darkest nights on the road we must
follow."
I enjoyed taking care of Angela every weekend from the chats we'd
have to the peaceful silent moments.
Angela and her family were nothing but wonderful to me, I'm deeply
sorry for their loss she'll be greatly missed but never forgotten.
God Bless.

“Aunt Ange” was full of life and love. I
always felt smarter and happier after spending time with her. She
was always interested in the paths her cousins’ children had taken
and full of encouragement. Like my mother, she saw special qualities
in everyone. I remember, at age 16, visiting the Rectors in Billings
and going to a fancy restaurant where I had alfalfa sprouts for the
first time. It is no surprise she always exuded health and vitality!
God bless all the Rectors. You are in our prayers.
Sincerely, Frank Ryan (Inez’s youngest) and family,
Rockville, Md.
