Douglas Alan Buckingham
Douglas Alan Buckingham, age 67, passed away at his home on
Friday, January 7, 2011. Douglas was born in Terry, Montana
on March 27, 1943, the 3rd son of Frank and Ruby (Morehouse)
Buckingham. He graduated from Terry High School in 1962, and
attended the University of Montana, graduating in 1966,
where he received a B.S. in Business Administration. He
obtained his CPA in 1967.
While living in Missoula, he met and married Karen
Halverson, and to this union, son Thor Jay and daughter
Meichele Mae were born. They divorced in 1978. After three
years of public accounting in Reno and Colorado Springs, he
moved to Billings to work for Wyo-Ben, Inc. He worked there
for 39 years, retiring in March 2008, as CFO of the company.
In 1981, he met the love of his life Linda Krum. They were
married on February 6, 1982, after he was voted into the
family by Linda’s children Brenda and Daryl. As a couple
they enjoyed extensive traveling, gardening, trying out
exotic foods, and attending cultural events. They especially
enjoyed visiting all the Hawaiian islands, with Maui,
Molokai, and the Big Island being their favorites. Other
favorite adventures were New Orleans, Panama Canal cruise,
the Steamboatin’ cruise on the Mississippi River, and
attending the Rose Bowl and Parade. They also enjoyed
traveling for sporting events.
As a U of M alumni he was a avid Grizzly fan. He and Linda
enjoyed many victory lunches at the expense of Dennis and
Chad.
Douglas was a man of integrity who cared deeply about his
family. He was a handsome man with a wry sense of humor. He
was honest, pragmatic, a great planner, a financial wiz, a
talented cook, and an expert with the barbeque.
Douglas is survived by his wife Linda, sons Thor Buckingham
and Daryl Stanton, daughters Meichele Geis (Leo) and Brenda
Farmer, grandchildren, Joshua, Anastatia, and Cosette Geis
and Wyatt, Delaney, and Cheyanne Farmer, two brothers Tom
and Kent Buckingham, and sister Val Meachum, and many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step father Art
Lussenden and brothers Dave and Roger Buckingham.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at
1:30, Thursday, January 13th, at Shiloh United Methodist
Church. Reception to follow. A private family graveside
service will be held at a later date.
