Karl Mark "Butch" Welzenbach, Jr.


Karl M. “Butch” Welzenbach, Jr., 69 of Billings, passed away on April 14, 2011 at Ft. Harrison Veterans Hospital in Helena, MT. Butch was born and raised in Wolf Point. He served 4 years in the Navy and farmed in Wolf Point for 40 years.

Butch married Judy Brown on November 17, 1973 and had one son, Brian Mark. Butch, Judy and Brian moved to Billings in 1994. He and Brian had a hobby making diamond willow canes. He worked at Wal-Mart for 4 ½ years.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Billings; son Brian of Helena; sisters Karen Johnson, Judith Stai, Ardis Doornek, and Nancy Smith of Billings and Phyllis Brien of California; brothers David of Wisconsin, and James of Billings; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be held between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Monday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Cremation will follow the viewing. Memorial Services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday at Michelotti-Sawyers. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery in Laurel, MT.
