Roberta Way Mackin
Roberta Way Mackin was born on June 9, 1926 in Terry, Montana to John and Carrie Adeline Way. The eighth of nine children she passed away on April 8th, 2011, following a perfect evening out, dinner and a concert, with her favorite fella. She lived life to the fullest right up to the end, passing in her sleep.
Although Roberta was born in Terry she grew up in Cody, Wyoming and considered that home. In Cody she made life long friends, specifically Becky and Pinky. The threesome rarely missed a Cody 4th of July celebration with other classmates. Roberta was proud to have been trained as a registered nurse at St Vincent’s hospital. The nursing class of ’47 held frequent reunions with much laughter and a bucket of daiquiris. She married Blake Mackin in 1949 and enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage. They raised four kids while moving around the state of Montana building bridges and friendships. Blake and Roberta traveled the world together but had become content with spending winters in Hawaii. No matter where she traveled, Yellowstone Park and the Beartooth mountains held a special place in her heart. Roberta was a member of PEO, and The Red Hat society. She spent many happy hours with friends and family, square dancing, enjoying East Rosebud, playing dominoes, attending plays, laughing, and walking the neighborhood streets while discussing important world affairs.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gordon, Olen, Darrell, Kenneth, Dick and sister Irene Stonehouse. She is survived by brothers Bob and John; husband Blake; children Becky(Ron) Slayton, Bill Mackin, Bob Mackin(Elizabeth Adcock), and Lee(Randy)Crellin. Grandchildren, Julianne(Brady)Hall, James Slayton, Anni, Maggie and Jessie Mackin, Elliot Mackin and Jenilee and Charlie Crellin; and Great Grandson Sam Hall.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held on Wed. April 13th at 2 p.m. at Michelotti Sawyers Mortuary.

Becky and family, we are so sorry to hear of your
mother’s passing, but what a wonderful way to go. I know that you will
miss her so much and my heart feels your loss. I hope that your fond,
fun memories will sustain you.

Roberta was a dear friend and neighbor of my
Aunt and Uncle. I knew her through them for over 40 years and I
don’t think I ever saw her when she wasn’t smiling. She and my Aunt
were always kidding each other and having a good time. I think
Roberta could say things to my Aunt that other people couldn’t get
away with. I remember her distinct laugh and voice. It made me smile
just to hear her talk. It seemed to me that her family adored her
and they were all very close. A woman who produced that much joy
will be missed, but the memories are surely warm and cozy. She lived
a wonderful life and brought happiness to many. Keep her love going.
With sympathy,

Roberta would be so proud of me--I was able
to bring this OBit up on the computer. What a beautiful girl--inside
and out!! To have a friend like Roberta was a such a special gift.
She has been in my life since elementary school. The fact that she
was my second cousin, once removed, (she said). I had hoped that she
didn't want me to be removed !!!! There is no end of the great fun
times that we have had. After growing up,(which we never really
seemed to do) marriages and families came along. However, the
reunions of the Class of 44, Cody, Wyoming, took place for 40 years
or more. The traveling that we did together as couples was a high
light of my life. Becky and Jay Watkins were a part of our wonderful
times together. Roberta was always so happy that our husbands put up
with us and seemed to like us.. She was fun to tease and seemed to
love every bit of it. It's time to say goodbye to the "ole girl"
(she was younger than me but only by 4 months). I am very sad but
know that God has wrapped his arms around her, taken away all her
pain, and trying out her new recipes.
Sooooo very sorry that we couldn't be there for the memorial!!!!
