Raymond Jack Bergeron

Raymond Jack Bergeron passed away April 2, 2011, in Billings.

Born in Kenmare, N.D., to Ray and Grace Murray in 1930, he was raised by his adoptive parents, Rosair and Daisy Bergeron. He graduated from Watford City High School and then worked for the REA in rural North Dakota and Montana for several years. During the Korean War, he joined the Navy and proudly served his country with the CBs, helping to rebuild North Africa and Southern Europe.

After leaving the Navy, he met the love of his life, Irene Metelman, and they married. He studied electrical engineering in the Bay Area and, upon completion, they moved to Great Falls, where he started his lifelong career with Montana Power. He lived briefly in Great Falls before moving to Glasgow. He worked there for nine years, rising to manager of the Glasgow office. He was very active in the Kiwanis Club and the JayCees. In 1968, he moved to Billings and worked in the marketing department for Montana Power. He finished his career with Montana Power in 1988, after over 30 years of loyal service.

He and Irene were married for 37 years when she passed away in 1996. They had two children during their years together. Ray enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. He would help anyone, anytime, with any kind of project. He was involved with the Montana Power Retirees group and the low-vision group. He was a friend of all who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.

He is preceded in death by his wife Irene, his parents and one sister. He is survived by his son, David; daughter Yvonne; sister Gayle; and grandchildren Michael and Jessica.

A memorial service will be held at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary on Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 10, 2345 King Ave., Billings, in Ray's memory.
