Janice Reed
Janice Reed was a stoic courageous
woman with a love of life. After a six year battle with
cancer, she died peacefully at her home with family at her
side Sunday, September 26, 2010. Janice was born to Albert
and Anna Jansen on March 8, 1941 and grew up on the family
farm with her brother Raymond Jansen south of Wolf Point MT.
Janice attended school in Wolf Point and married her life
long love, Charles Reed on September 5, 1959. The couple
moved to Billings in 1959 and then to Edgar MT in 1983,
their own farm home where Janice and Charles raised various
farm animals.
Janice always had a soft heart for the helpless and
defenseless, raising orphaned animals and nursing them back
to health. Janice loved her hobbies like knitting, and
baking sweets for Charles. Her artistic qualities always
showed thru in her saw blade pictures and clocks, her oil
paintings and sewing quilts for her grandchildren and shirts
for Charles.
Janice and Charles raise three children; Patricia Reed (Dean
Clark) of Billings, Sharla Thompson (John Thompson) of
Laurel and Ronald Reed of Edgar. Survivors also include six
grandchildren and one step grand-daughter; two great
grand-daughters; and one step great-granddaughter. She was
preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Janice was loved by all who knew her and was fond of her
neighbors. She never turned down an opportunity to visit as
the coffee was always on.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, October 1,
at Rockvale Cemetery. The casket is open at Michelotti-Sawyers
Mortuary for visitation.
Special thanks to all who helped with Janice thru the battle with her disease, especially Dr. Marty Lucus and Beartooth Hospice.
