Elmeda Jane Titus Flamm
"Meda"
Mother...
Who fed me from her breast and hushed me in her arms to
rest,
and on my cheek sweet kisses pressed...
Mother...
Who taught my infant lips to pray, to love God's holy word
and day
And walk in wisdom's pleasant way...
Mom was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on December 13, 1925 the
daughter of Mary Teresa (Churchfield) Titus and Roy Nelson
Titus. Her devotion to her family and the Catholic Church
were nurtured in a loving Irish Catholic family home in
Newcastle, Wyoming, There she grew up as one of the "Titus
girls" and graduated from Newcastle High School with the
class of 1944.
On June 16th of 1947 she was united in married to Donald
Flamm sr. (this relationship ended in divorce in 1970). Mom
lived the life ofa railroad agents wife from the old CB&Q to
BN. Living and raising her family in the cramped agents
quarters above the old depots in Sioux Falls, Crow Agency,
Hardin (where she had a real house) and then to the depot in
Gillette and in 1967 a move to Billings. The raising of six
children 20 feet off the main line was not an easy task but
mom kept a wonderful home and was active in the Catholic
Church, VFW, Boy Scouts, bowling league and Al-Anon.
In 1970 Mom returned to school and later to work for the
State of Montana Vocational Rehabilitation. Upon her
retirement from the State in 1986 she moved to Helena for a
time before settling into her much loved retirement life in
Huachuca City, Arizona.
Mom enjoyed the Arizona sunshine and her many new friends.
She was an active member of the Florance M. Jackman library
board and the little mission church in Whetstone. Her life
in Arizona was shared with her friend and companion Harold
Murray. The two of them were always on the go. Mom became a
very special member of the Murray family and they lovingly
watched over her.
In 2006 mom suffered a stroke and was unable to continue her
independent life style so she returned to Montana where she
lived in Ballantine with the assistance of her children and
grandchildren. Mom you will always be remembered for your
sweet personality, ready smile and love of your family.
