Marjorie Clanton Clark
Marjorie Clanton Clark, 86, and
longtime resident of Billings, passed away on September 19, 2010
at St. Vincent Hospital, with her husband and son at her
bedside.
The daughter of Albert M. Clanton and Gladys (Frisby)
Clanton, Marjorie was born June 7, 1924 on her grandparents,
Charles E. and Emma (Hinkley) Frisby, homestead north of
Fromberg, Montana. She grew up south of Billings on the
Albert Clanton Ranch on Blue Creek and Duck Creek, attended
Pleasant View grade school, Fromberg middle school and
graduated from Billings Senior High in 1942.
On September 3, 1953 she married Frank S. Clark of Billings
in the First Methodist Church. Together they raised one son.
After attending Billings Business College, Marjorie worked
as a clerical and executive secretary for several Billings
businesses throughout her life. In the early 1970's she
helped open the Billings Regional Petroleum Exploration
Office for Mid-America Pipeline Company (MAPCO), and retired
from MAPCO in 1982.
Marjorie was also an accomplished family historian and
genealogist. She was a member and officer of the Society of
Mayflower Descendants in the State of Montana, Daughters of
the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, and Daughters of
the American Colonists.
With her special interest in history, and as the
granddaughter of early 1883 Billings residents William H.
and Elizabeth (Hopkins) Clanton, Marjorie loved to research
and collect information concerning early day Billings. In
1976 she assisted Charles Zimmerman in the assembly of the
publication, "Along The Zimmerman Trail."
Marjorie enjoyed many family trips to Yellowstone National
Park, Glacier National Park, as well as to Canada, and
Washington, D. C.
Marjorie will be greatly missed, and is survived by her
husband of 57 years Frank S. Clark, son Douglas M. Clark,
and sister Donna (Clanton) Wegner. She was preceded in death
by sister Ethel (Clanton) Hughes.

Remembrances
Please leave your name and remembrance in this public guest book. Your comments will be shared on this page and forwarded to the family.
I worked
with Marge at MAPCO and remember her as the “office mother”. She was
always there when you needed something. One of my funniest memories I
laugh at with my daughter, Wendy, is the call Wendy made to work and
Marge answered the phone. Wendy & her girlfriend were making macaroni
and cheese. When they found I was unavailable, they proceeded to ask
Marge “Where is the drainer thing for macaroni?” Bless her, she helped
them find the right cabinet. After that, she was the go to person if
Wendy needed something.
My prayers are with all of Marge’s family. She touched many lives.
Regards,
Miriam Steinert
