Ella Sieler Ross
Ella Dorothy Jung Sieler Ross was born July 5, 1913, at the
family farm in Eureka, SD. She was the 9th of 13 children.
She helped on the farm and in the fields while she was
growing up.
At 17, she joined her sister, Rose and husband Andrew in
California where Ella worked as a nanny for a doctor's
family for 4 years prior to marrying Phil Sieler. They moved
back to the Sieler family farm in ND for a few years before
heading to Washington State during WWII. During this time
they had four children. Following the war, they moved to
Billings, MT, where their children attended school.
Ella was a great waitress. She helped start many customers’
day with a big smile and a steaming cup of coffee. She
waited tables until she was 70. Ella married Emmons Ross in
1972, and they traveled throughout the US for the next 10
years. They loved to go dancing and visited the Lawrence
Welk Show several times when visiting family in California.
Ella loved traveling and spent time in Tahiti, Australia,
Italy, the Caribbean, Honduras, and Mexico.
Ella enjoyed gardening and raising her beautiful roses. She
loved to bake and share her goodies with family, friends and
neighbors. She began water aerobics at 90 which she
continued until her death. Ella was a big supporter Little
League sports. She seldom missed a game featuring David or
Areannah. She was their biggest fan and loved cheering them
on.
