William T. Johnson
"Bill"


Bill Johnson, age 89 of Billings, went to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in the presence of his loving and devoted wife Eileen of 63 years.

Bill was born to Christian and Lydia Johnson in Seven Persons, Alberta Canada on April 7, 1921. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the European theater during World War II. He married the love of his life Eileen on October 26, 1947 in Cut Bank, Montana. Bill and Eileen resided for the most part in Billings and Shepherd, Montana where they raised their three children.

In 1946 Bill started his employment in the United States with Carter Oil Company in Cut Bank, MT. In 1949 He transferred to the Carter Oil Company in Billings, MT. In ensuing years Carter Oil became Humble Oil and eventually Exxon. During his employment, Bill and his family spent time in France and Holland. Bill retired in 1984 in a management position with Exxon.

Throughout his life Bill was involved in several community organizations. To name a few, Cub Scouts, Billings Saddle Club, Shepherd School Board, Shepherd Lions Club, Elks Club, 4-H Club and Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Bill’s passions included GOLF, sports of all kinds, hunting, horse back riding and working on his little farm. Most of all Bill enjoyed and loved his family and watching them pursue their passions.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Eileen; brother Stan (Fay); son William Alan (Corinne); daughters Susan Zeiler (Ron), and Lori Johnson; grandchildren Christene McDonnell (John), Jennifer Johnson (Brian), Darin Zeiler (Elisa), Kara Connors (Casey), Daniel Johnson (Jenn), and Douglas Johnson (Carrie). Bill was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter Darcee Zeiler, parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday October 21, 2010 and 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Friday October 22, 2010 at Michelotti- Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. in Billings, MT. Funeral will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shepherd, MT at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday October 23, 2010. Internment will follow at Shepherd Cemetery.

We will always remember Bill, his warming smiles, and his generous hugs. We will miss his endearing stories and jokes and his quick wit. He was a dear soul, devoted to his family and his wife, and we know he has found welcome in the house of our Lord. We extend our sincere sympathy to Eileen and the entire Johnson family. They are always in our hearts.
