Vesta Lorraine
Harper Merry

Lorraine (Harper) Merry, 87, of Littleton, died November 14, 2010 surrounded by family. She was born June 26, 1923 on a homestead north of Livingston, Montana, the daughter of Joseph L. and Flonnie B. Harper.

Last of the litter, Lorraine was the youngest of six children. Although her childhood was impacted by tragedy and adversity, Lorraine was a happy, imaginative, and hard-working young woman.

On December 12, 1941, she was united in marriage with C.C. "Bus" Merry. They promptly moved to California where Bus worked in the shipyards. Their daughter, Michal Ann, was born in 1943 and shortly Bus was deployed to Europe for two and one half years. When WWII ended, the family moved back to Billings where their son, Daniel, was born in 1947.

While her children were in school and her husband was starting his company, Yellowstone Hydraulics, Lorraine worked at Sun Oil Company and Dekalb Oil. Later in life, Lorraine learned to bowl, golf, play bridge, and make a mean lemon meringue pie. Throughout their 52 year marriage, Bus and Lorraine traveled all over the globe, always bringing back a "trinket" for their waiting grandchildren.

We were blessed to have you in our lives, will never forget your outstanding wit and will always remember your delicious pies. We love you.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bus, in 1994; her parents; three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her two children, Michal Ann Lutton of Littleton, CO, Daniel (Connie) Merry of Billings, MT. Five grandchildren, Randall (Jana) Lutton of Littleton, CO, Kenneth (Peggy) Lutton of Billings, MT, Patrick Merry of Pullman, WA, Andrew (Bridget) Merry of Billings, MT, and Laura (Matt) Prill of Billings, MT. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. at Michelotti-Sawyers followed by internment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends are asked to make memorials to the charity of their choice
