Holly Steinbrenner Caraway

Holly Caraway

Holly Steinbrenner Caraway, 70, passed away peacefully at her home on January 31, 2010, under the loving care of her son, Herb, and daughter, Audrey, after a brave battle with cancer.  Holly was born on July 5, 1939, to William D. and Geraldine Gray Steinbrenner, in Missoula, and had a deep love for Missoula as a third generation Missoulian.

She attended Missoula County High School and The University Of Montana.  Her membership in Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and the Junior League chapters of both Billings and Great Falls brought Holly great joy.   She was also active in the Episcopal Church, and was a very proud Alumna of the University of Montana for over 50 years.  Holly married Herbert William Caraway, on March 18, 1960.

Especially dear to Holly’s heart were her son Herb Caraway, her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Steve Worthington, and her three precious grandchildren, Bryce, Blaine and Brooklyn Worthington.  Her favorite pastime was attending their sports events and sharing treasured time at her Placid Lake cabin.

Holly and her family were very grateful for the warm and compassionate service of Rocky Mountain Hospice as they were an extension of God’s hand in calling Holly home.  The family would like especially to thank Merle, Kayla, Terese, Leslie, and Chaplain Richard of Hospice, and Dr. Nieva for their extraordinary care.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William Gray and Gloria Steinbrenner; her sister-in-law Ardice Nicholson; nephews Gerry and Tom Steinbrenner; and niece Jill Steinbrenner Olson, all of Missoula; and sister-in-law, Cathy Caraway Spooner and her husband, Neale, of  Las Vegas.  She is also survived by her Aunt Harriet Gray and cousins Kerry Gray, Randy Gray, Jeff Gray, all of Great Falls; Barbara Sabo, of Stevensville; and Kathie Raff, of Seattle.  Holly was preceded in death by Herbert William Caraway.

Services will be Wednesday, February 3, at 2:00, at The Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Avenue, Billings.  Interment will follow at the Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park.  Memorials may be given to Billings West High Football Department, c/o Paul Klaboe, 2201 Saint Johns Avenue, Billings MT, 59102
