Eleanor M. Clark Suaters

Eleanor Sauters

Our beautiful Mother, Grandmother and Sister passed away February 10, 2010 at the Billings Clinic surrounded by her family.  True to her strong spirit, she fought until the end.

Eleanor M. Clark Sauters was born November 13, 1917 in Judith Gap, MT.  She was the 1st of her siblings to be born in Montana so she was given the middle name of Montana.  Her Dad nicknamed her “Tana”.  The family later moved to the Big Timber where she graduated from high school.  After graduation, she lived with relatives in Washington and attended a community college.  When she returned to Montana, she began her career in Livingston and eventually transferred to Billings where she met her future husband, Theodore “Ted” Sauters.  They were married on September 9, 1945.  To this union was born 2 daughters, Linda and Shelley.  Mom retired from government service in 1978 and traveled with our Dad to various construction projects.  Mom loved her coffee, going out to eat, playing cards, dancing and taking care of her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; our Dad in 1986; sisters Eunice, Lena, and Doris; and brothers, Harlan, Edger, and Elwood “Bud”.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Charles) Bainter of Big Timber and Shelley (Roger) Ostermiller of Billings.  Five grandchildren, Celeste (Rick) DeHart, Chelsa Fuller, Donald Fuller, Grant Fuller, and Lindsey Ostermiller along with 6 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are her sisters, May McKenzie of Big Timber and Betty (Clarence) Jones of Billings.  Last but certainly not least was her faithful canine companion, Chewy.

The family would like to thank the staff at Billings Clinic, Diamond Willow and Pastor Gary Geiman for their care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, February 15th at 2:00 p.m.,at Hope United Methodist Church located at 244 Wicks Lane.

Fly with the angels, Mom.  We love you always and hope you enjoy the wonderful pie and coffee in heaven.
