Phyllis was born on August 3, 1920, in

Phyllis returned to work when her daughters
started school and worked at Buttrey’s Department Store and The
Billings Credit Bureau retiring in 1978. She was “first on
phones” at the bureau which was truly her calling as she loved to
talk on the telephone. Phyllis was such a social person and on the
go all the time. She loved to travel, shop, lunch and visit
with family and friends. Vacations were spent with family
camping and traveling throughout the
She was preceded in death by her husband Al, brothers Bill, Don and Stan; her son-in-law Gregory Axlund , and grandson, Christopher DelPriore, and one infant sister. She is survived by her sisters Pat Brown and Francis Toomey, brothers Jim Short and Don Short; daughters Linda Axlund and Janice (Art) Geiger; grandchildren Michael Axlund ,Deanna (Larry) Bingham, Scott (Monica) DelPriore and Cynthia DelPriore; great-grandchildren Kristin Bingham, Brooklyn DelPriore and Brock Collins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Vintage Suites and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
Vigil Services will be at 7 p on Thursday,
February 11, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral Mass will
be held at 10:30, Friday at St. Pius X Church. Rite of

Having just lost my Mother this fall. I understand how you feel. You will be in my prayers. Our Mom's were such good friends, they remined me of middle school girls. Shopping going to lunch. I don't know if your Mom ever shared with you one time Phyllis and Evelyn thought they would be smarter than the crooks, they took thier credit cards to Buttrey's. Made copies of then in case they were stolen. When they got home they got a call from Buttrey's they left the cards in the machine!!! Middle School, don't you think!!My prayers are with you. I have so many good memories of your mother. I remember when Phyllis and Al used to pick me up for school every day--that went on for years--until we could drive. (There is an inside joke here about me driving your mom and dad's car, but I won't get into that now. They both forgave me for that one.) She was a kind lady who loved people and always had a smile on her face. She had so much energy, so many friends and was truly a people person. When she first arrived at Vintage she was easy to spot in the crowd because she was the only one living there who didn't have white hair. She didn't let any grass grow under her feet. She was always ready to do something fun. Phyllis lived a full life and left you all a many happy memories and a great legacy. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

Linda and Janice, I have many fond memories of your mom. You mom, Lillian Palmersheim and myself were very close and worked at the Credit Bureau together. We had many laughs together over the years. The last
time I saw her was in Billings at the Card Store by TJ Maxx - again we laughed. I feel bad you have lost your mom but I know you have many more special memories to help you in your loss. God Bless you and your families. Sharon Settles Cunningham
This is a remembrance to the family from Della and Carol Wardell and Ross Brown. We all loved her, as you said she was a special person and always ready with a smile and conversation.
My mother, Della, is related to Phyllis in as much as her Step Father was Byron Olinger. Byron was married to my Grandmother, L Dora. Mom's comment about Byron was, "He was sure good with horses." I guess he was quite a trainer. I knew him later in life when Mom would visit him in Klein MT. I remember her taking him sacks of food that he surely appreciated as he did not feel well at that time. I remember over the years, him telling stories of days gone by and how interesting they were.
Mom also tells of the days as a youngsters when her, Phyllis and all the kids would ride whatever horses were available and hang out by the railroad tracks that were down the hill from the home place in the Lewistown area.
They had lost track of each other in adult life until one day about 7 years ago Mom recognized your Mom at the airport and they were re-united. After that Phyllis would come visit and call on a regular bases, which was a great joy for Mom as she is getting more dependent on drivers.
Mother is doing pretty well. She had a mild heart attach about two months ago. Lives on her own at the Lipp Rd place. My brother is staying with her for an undetermined amount of time and I'm sure she enjoys that. But, this is not because she has to have someone there.
She turned 91 on Valentines day.
We are all happy to have known Phyllis. It warms me that she had such a beautiful and comfortable place to live throughout her life. We had enjoyable times visiting at Vintage suites.
