Ross "Rossco" Hanson

Ross Hanson

Ross “Rossco” Hanson, 57 of Billings, passed away on February 23, 2010, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.  Ross was born on February 18, 1953 in Idaho Falls, ID, the only son to Roy and Thora Hanson.  He would join 8 sisters with one more sister to come after him!  They were raised on a farm in Osgood, ID.  He attended schools in Osgood, New Sweden, and Idaho Falls where he graduated from Skyline High School in 1971.

Rossco moved to Montana in 1980 and drove truck for various trucking companies until 1988 when he went to work for Ankrum Trucking as an owner operator.  At Ankrum, he was more than a driver, he was big part of the family.  In his travels he made many life long friends, too numerous to mention.

In 2000, Rossco met Deb Frickle.  They created a lasting relationship of friendship & love and were always there for each other.

Rossco loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed camping and was “Camping BBQ King” at many family reunions.   He and friends spent many afternoons on the golf course and he was an animal lover with a special place in his heart for his dog “Taz” who would travel in the truck with him.  His faithful companion died in October.

Rossco was preceded in death by his mother Thora Hanson; sister Donna Hodges; and brother in law Paul Shearer.

He is survived by his loving companion Deb Frickle and her children Dawn & Travis Davis, all of Billings; his father Roy; his sisters, Marie (Ron) Elison, Alice (Boyd) Misseldine, Betty Packer, Ellen (Gayle) Smith, Clara (Ray) Risemmay, Joelene (Sam) Hendricks, Karolia Hanson, and Lynette (Andy) DeHaan; brother-in-law Roger Hodges; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as countless friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 1, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2929 Belvedere Dr.  The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 4-6 p.m., on Sunday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary.  Ross’s body will then be taken to Idaho Falls, ID.  The casket will be open for visitation on from 10:30 A.M.-12:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 3, at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, ID.  Burial will follow at Iona Cemetery.  A luncheon will be held at the Iona LDS Church after the burial.

Memorial donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation. Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements.
