Phyllis Wagner

Phyllis Wagner, 86, of Billings went home to the Lord on August 24, 2010 while recovering at Highgate Senior Living following surgery.

Phyllis was born June 19, 1924, in Strasburg, North Dakota to Wendelin and Natalie Miller Kramer. She grew up in the Strasburg area where she met her husband, Wendelin. They married in 1945 and farmed in North Dakota until 1955 when they moved to Billings. Phyllis was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, and baking as well as fishing and camping. She was very competitive when fishing as she liked to catch the most fish and also the biggest fish. She loved to crochet and knit, and we are blessed with many beautiful pieces of her work. Her faith was an important part of her life and she and Wendelin were charter members of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Phyllis is survived by her three children: Donna Braun, Dianne (Ken) Ostermiller and Calvin (Trudy) Wagner as well as three grandsons, Jeffrey (Teri) Braun, Randy (Buffy) Braun, and Brandon Ostermiller and step-grandson, Mike Hupp and step-granddaughter, Tessa Hupp. Also surviving are one great-grandson and three great-granddaughters. Phyllis is also survived by three brothers, Eddie Kramer, Peter Kramer and Eugene Kramer along with two sisters, Sybella Fettig and Eleanora Scherr. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 27 from 3-8 p.m. at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary at 1001 Alderson Avenue. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice or a charity of your choice. Our family would like to express a special heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful staff of caregivers at Highgate Senior Living over the last six and a half years. You truly were our mother's "family" and she loved you all. Thank you for a job well done!

Add Your Remembrance

I was born in 1956 to Sy & JoAnn Zabrocki, who lived on St. Johns Avenue. I remember (as a small child) Phyllis & Wendelin were two of the NICEST people, both always so friendly and full of laughter. They had the most beautiful well-kept house and yard and I particularly remember their pick-up and gooseneck trailer hitched up and ready to roll. It was so fancy! Great memories of two wonderful people! I am sorry for your loss. Deanna Zabrocki Enrich
