Jani Morse

Jani Morse

Janet (Jani) Morse, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, left us after her valiant fight with multiple myeloma on April 9, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Jani was born to Neal and Maxine McCurdy on December 7, 1952 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota

Jani married Steve Morse November 24, 1979.  Together they created Van Rensselaer Jewelers and raised three loving daughters and a son.

Jani was actively involved in the Billings community.  She was a Board member of the Billings Rimrock Opera, YWCA, the Peter Yegen Museum, and helped in the planning of the Western Heritage Museum.  She also chaired the St. Vincent's Saints' Gala, and was a member of the American Gem Society.  She mentored young, struggling families through the Family Tree organization.

Jani's three daughters were the light of her life, and she adored her eight grandchildren.  Jani's daughters speak about her with such love, pride and admiration.  The bond between Jani and her doting daughters goes without compare.

Those left to celebrate her life are her husband Steve; daughters Jami (Cole) Higlin, Jana (Jon) Jablonski, Amanda (Mike) Feysa, Nick (David) Morse; and her best friends Danielle Piseno and Martha Wynne-Ferro.  Also celebrating Jani's life are her loving grandchildren Micaela, Madelyn, Mackensi, Connor, Ayden, Tayte, Jackson and Karsyn; her mother Maxine McCurdy; her sister Diana (Francis) Edwards; brothers Dave (Sheri) McCurdy and Matthew (Mary Jo) McCurdy; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jani was met with open arms by her father Neal, her loving sister-in-law Judy, and her grandparents.

Join us in celebrating Jani on Tuesday, April 13, at the Wingate Hotel, 1801 Majestic Lane (Exit 443 Zoo Drive), Billings, between 2:00-6:00 p.m.  Parking is located on the south end of the hotel at the convention entrance.

Donations may be made in memory of Jani to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.themmrf.org), or a charity of choice.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel on the passing of Jani. May the memories of your love and the wonderful life you shared throughout the years be a comfort to you during this difficult time. Lynn Redman

I was heartbroken to hear of Jani's battle with cancer.  Dear, sweet and beautiful lady....you have left a place in the hearts of all who knew you.  I have such wonderful memories of babysitting those precious girls!  I pray God's grace will comfort you all during this difficult loss.

 God Bless

Barb Burton Dalby

It has been so long since Jani and I have spent any time together.  However, she was an important part of my life and the source of many happy memories.  (We were roommates at the University of Montana in 1971.)  My sympathy to her family and friends.  I take great comfort in knowing where she will spend eternity.  Love, Sherry (Willits) Halley

We were very saddened to hear of your family's loss.  Please know your family remains in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

Our deepest sympathies,

Chris and Christine Prill

We are so sorry to hear of Janie's death.  She will missed in this community and as our friend.  We wanted you to know how kind she always was to my Mom, (Grandma Cole) when we were in the store.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.  God's Blessings, the Moorhouse family.

I was just looking at some past issues of the Gazette and saw of Jani's passing.  We are so sorry for your loss.

We were not aware of her illness as we don't get to Billings as much.

This comes as shock.  Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.  I remember her smiling face at the store and she will be missed.

We were unaware of Jani's cancer so were equally shocked and saddened at news of her death.  Bob and I have such fond memories of Central when Katherine was a classmate of Jamie and Jana.  We parents formed a  wonderful bond, partly because Jani was always so fun and positive.

The last time I saw Jani she mentioned that she talked to her girls every day.  To me, that is the ultimate of being a mother, and she had achieved that.  Our hope is that you, Jamie, Jana, Mandy and Nick, although you lost your mom too soon, will be able to always reflect back on that amazing love that she had for you.  She was a gift to so many.  Bob and Shari Dayton.

Whenever I think of Jani, I smile.  There are too many memories to share here, but I hope someday I can share some of them with her children and grandchildren.  Jani was a best friend growing up across the road from each other, walking to and from school nearly everyday, and sharing secrets.  I am so sorry about your loss, but for her, now there is no pain.  She will always be a part of all who knew her, and we are all better for having known her.  Please accept my sympathy.  I wish I could be with you to celebrate her life, but you will all be in my thoughts and prayers, and Jani will always be in my heart.  Love to you all - Carolyn Heidel Johnson
