Robert (Bob) Grammens, 83 of Custer passed away peacefully at his home on April 7, 2010.  Bob was born October 2, 1926 to Rene and Nathalie Grammens, the fifth of six sons.  He attended school in Custer and graduated in 1945.

In 1947, Bob married Betty Scheidt and they had one daughter, Kathleen.  Betty passed away in 1953.

On May 14, 1955 Bob and Marion Tschida were united in marriage and they had two daughters, Barbara and Diane.  Bob and Marion farmed and ranched on the family farm along with two brothers, Frank and Ed, until they retired in 1989.  Farming was Bob’s passion.  He always enjoyed his view from his living room window and looked forward to sitting and watching the farming activity from Sprint to Fall.

Bob’s favorite pastimes he enjoyed throughout the years included dancing (especially the polka), going to the horse races in Billings, and visiting and sharing a drink with family and friends.  He especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and speaking of them always bought a smile to his face.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Betty; parents Rene and Nathalie; and five his brothers, Albert, Morris, Paul, Frank, and Ed.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marion Grammens of Custer; three daughters, Kathy (Larry) Watson of Custer, Barb (Tracy) Rexford and Diane Litzsinger of Billings; 4 granddaughters, Tammi (Kevin) Miller, Kristi (Dustin) Albers, Brandi (Hugh) MacDonald, and Nicole Litzsinger; one grandson Robert (Stephanie) Rexford; seven great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Miller, Blake, Brock, Brooklyn and Boston MacDonald, Madison Rexford and Kenzi Norviel.  Bob is also survived by five sisters-in-law, Esther Cuthbertson, Mildred Grammens, Birdie Grammens, Maggie (Paul) Creek and Rose Grammens.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and on Sunday the family will be receiving friends from 3-5 p.m. at Michelotti-Sawyers.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer, with Rite of Committal to follow at Custer Cemetery.  A reception will be held at the Congregational Church following the burial.

Memorials may be made to the Custer Community School Foundation (CCSF), care of Custer Public Schools.

Barb and Tracy and Grammens family...so so sorry to hear about your dad and husband. My dad talked of him often as well as the good ole' days in Custer. My family will be thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. Take care.
