Robert Berkner

Robert Berkner

Robert (Bob, RJ) was born May 18, 1932 in Rochester, Minnesota to R.F. and Cecilia (Madden) Berkner.  He was raised in Mahnomen, MN, where he attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and Mahnomen High School.  Bob entered into the Army and proudly served his country.  He was stationed at Camp Yokihama where he trained firefighters.

Bob attended St. John’s University for a time and later completed his B.S. degree in Agri-Business at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul.

He was united in marriage to Donna Mae Lammers on October 4, 1958 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, MN.  Bob & Donna moved several times as Bob climbed the corporate ladder.  Corporate life left an emptiness because he truly enjoyed serving his customers personally.  They eventually moved to Mahnomen, MN, where Bob took over the family feed mill business.

Bob & Donna moved to Billings, MT, in 1985 and fell in love with the area.  They opened Mintana Mills and Bob lived his passion for feed milling until he died.  He truly enjoyed his life’s work, his staff, customers and professional relationships.

Bob’s devotion to faith, family and friends was evident in the way he lived his life.  He often talked about his love for family and country.  He has left us with a treasure of memories and will be deeply missed.  God Bless Bob Berkner and the legacy he leaves behind.

Bob will be missed by Donna, his beloved wife of 51 years, his 3 daughters and their families, his brothers, sisters, extended family, and many friends.

He was preceded in death and greeted by several dear family members.

Vigil services will be held at 7pm Friday, April 16th at St. Pius X Church. The Funeral Mass will be held 11am Saturday, April 17th at St. Pius. Additional services and Rite of Committal will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Ogema, MN.

Donna,

Words cannot describe our feelings when we heard today, that Bob had passed away. Our prayers are with you and your family. He was a great man, with a huge legacy of knowledge that he was so happy to share. How are we ever going to get our livestock raised without him to come to for advice.

To Donna and Family,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Bob was such a caring and loving person.

He is going to be missed by many.

Each time I went to Mintana Mills he would always put a smile on my face, and he was always was concerned with my life and health issues. I always enjoyed my conversations with him.

The World lost a very loving man, but Heaven gained an Angel in God's hands.

I will miss him so very much, but he will always be alive in my heart and will never be forgotten.

God Bless All Of You.

With Love,

Mark Runnalls
