Alex HergenriderAfter the work of the day was done and after a life of 92 years, Alexander Hergenrider died in the evening of September 1, 2009.

Alex was born May 27, 1917 in Belfry, the son of Dave and Sophia Hergenrider. He married Katherine Kraft November 20, 1937 in Belfry. They made their home on the family farm where he enjoyed working everyday. Even when he no longer could work he took great pride in watching the crops and livestock throughout each year.

He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He found strength and comfort through his faith in the Lord.

He is survived by his daughter Marjorie (Joe) Carey of Colorado, sons, Glen (Maureen) Hergenrider of Billings, and Randy (Rogene) Hergenrider of Belfry, grandchildren, Veronique, Sean, James, Rhonda, Robbyn, great grandchildren, Misty, Adam, Jamie, Cheyenne, Kyle, Alexander, Jacob, Mandy, brothers John, Rudy (Clara), brothers-in-law, Albert Kraft, Boots (Frances) Kraft, and sister-in-law Lydia Hergenrider.

He is preceded in death by his wife Katherine, brothers Dave and Alfred, sisters, Olga, Emma, Lydia and Annie, and grandchildren, Justin Toland and Tyna Carey.

Visitation will be held 3pm-8pm Thursday and 9am-8pm Friday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridger. Visitation at the church will begin at 10am. The interment will be in the Belfry Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridger and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belfry.
