Marjorie S. Chadwick

Marjorie S. ChadwickMarge was born July 31, 1923 in Rector, Arkansas to William C Sharp, Sr. and Laura Sharp. However, she only lived there for a brief time moving with her mother to Jacksonville, Florida were she grew up and graduated from high school. After graduation, she worked for a short time at a bank in Jacksonville. She met her first husband, a young Navy pilot named M. Scott Doss while on a blind date with him. Scott realized he had found a true gem and they were married a short time later. After their marriage in September, 1946, they moved to Scott's hometown, Seminole, Texas.

During the time that they lived there, their three children Claudia, Marsha and David were born. In 1951, Scott and Margie decided to head north purchasing a cattle ranch just west of Custer, MT where they lived until Scott was killed in a pickup accident in 1960. She then sold the ranch and moved into Billings, MT where she did a wonderful job of raising her three young children. During this time, in addition to all of Claudia, Marsha and David's activities, she worked for a time for Dr. Bill Walton. She was also very active with St. Thomas Catholic Church, was a member of PEa Chapter S of Billings and during her 'free' time loved to play bridge with her bridge group.

In 1965, Mom met and married Norm Coulston. Even though this marriage did not last long, she has always held a special place in her heart for all of the Coulston children.

It was during this time that Mom started working for Roxanne Gifts. She worked there for about 10 years. She met many wonderful people there who became great friends. Mom loved to entertain and she was a great cook so this was the perfect job for her. She loved to help people with their purchases. It was sort of like planning a party everyday!

In 1979, Mom met and married William T. Chadwick ("Willie" to Mom!) And on August 11, 2009 they would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Mom and Bill decided that after each of them retired, Mom from Roxanne's and Bill from Carl Wiessman's & Sons, they would move back to Mom's roots-Florida. So in roughly 1985, they moved from Montana to Florida. They had many wonderful years together traveling all around the United States in their van, going to Perry's at Daytona Beach each spring with friends, having 'Derby Day' parties and enjoying their many friends in both Montana and Florida. Like I said, Mom always loved a party and she so enjoyed having family and friends to her home!

Sadly, on July 21,2009, Mom passed away in Eustis, Florida after struggling for about 6 years with failing health. She was lovingly cared for during this time by her "Willie".

Mom was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Scott Doss; and many loved family member of her family and Scott's. She is survived by her husband William T. (Bill) Chadwick; her three children and their families, Claudia Doss and husband Larry Carlson and sons Matthew and Ben of Seattle, WA; Marsha Monahan and husband Dan of Billings, MT and David Doss and friend Mary Jane Kelly of Billings, MT and David's children, Scott, Caitlin (great grandson, Sam) and Keely. She is also survived by her brother William C. (Bill) Sharp, Jr. of Florida; Step-children, Chad Chadwick of Billings, MT and Molly Walton and husband Bill of Jamesville, WI and their sons Christian, Alex and Ian.

Mom will be greatly missed by all who knew her but we know that she is in a better place and free from pain. Those wishing to remember our Mother may join us for a Memorial Mass to be held in her honor on September 25, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral in Billings, MT. If a memorial is desired, they may be made to the charity of your choice.
