Marry Rupp

Mary Frank Rupp was born on July 7, 1923, one of twelve children born to George and Mary Katherine Frickle Frank.  She passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 27, 2009.

Mary was born in Laurel MT.  She and Clarence met at confirmation class and were married on December 20, 1942.  Clarence enlisted in the Navy and Mary joined him in Idaho and later in Washington when he was stationed there.  After the war they lived in Pasco, WA, Billings, Park City and Laurel, before settling in Worden, in 1954.  Mary was an active partner on the farm and kept the house and the children in line.

In 1968 Clarence accepted a job as the Manager of the Rural Electric Coop in Edgeley, ND.  That was about the time Clarence and Mary began their hobby of Antiques.  Mary was very knowledgeable about antiques, especially glassware and Clarence was an expert furniture restorer.

When Clarence retired in 1985 they returned to Billings where they have lived ever since.  They continued to pursue their love of antiques until they moved into Aspen View Retirement home in 2003.

Mary continued to enjoy mystery novels, reading the paper every day and discussing current events.  Some of her favorite pastimes were wordfind puzzles and crocheting afghans for her grandchildren.  Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. 

She is survived by:  her devoted husband of 66 years, Clarence Rupp, her son Randall (Laurel) of San Jose, CA.,  her daughter Terri Wiggins (Shayne) of Billings,  her son, Jeffrey (Eileen) of Bozeman,  and son, David (Janie) of Fergus Falls, MN and her twelve grandchildren;  Dawn Van Luchene, Danielle Eshleman (Paul), Jeremy Rupp, Jason Van Luchene (Raina), Michael Rupp, Tyler Rupp (Ashley), Dustin Rupp, Anne Rupp, Katie Rupp, Kelsey Rupp, Thomas Rupp, Jennifer Rupp and her great grandchildren; Jarrad Eshleman, Billy Eshleman, Taelar Van Luchene,  Charlie Elizabeth Van Luchene, sister Dorothy Ostwalt (John), sister in law, Alice Frank,  sister in law Gladys Besel (LeRoy), sister in law Esther Frank Weschenfelder, and sister in law Irene Frank  brother in law Lyle Rupp and numerous extended family members.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Saturday May 30th at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave, Billings.   Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, May 31 at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th Street, Billings.  Interment will be Monday June 1st at 9:00 am at the Laurel Cemetery.    Memorial donations can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3010 11th Ave N., Billings.

Clarence and family, Our prayers are with you at this time. So sorry to see this and realized that some of my fondest memories are still with the great times that our families had at all of the dinners at YVEC years ago when you and mom worked together and Mary always made the best dishes to eat. I fondly remember Mary and Clarence, as we sold their auction for them in Lewistown, several years ago. She was always so gracious and willing to share her profound knowledge of antiques.

She will be missed by all.
