Genevieve A. Reymer

Genevieve A. Reymer, 88 of Billings, died Sunday, May 10,
2009 at her home.
Genevieve was born to Bernard and Jennie T. Visser on October 18, 1920 on a homestead close to Rapelje Montana. While attending Rapelje High School she worked for her board and room in town. She graduated from Rapelje High School in 1938. She then moved to Billings to attend Johnston Business College. Her first job was bookkeeping at the Billings Cadillac dealership. She then moved to Motor Mart which sold Nash autos. Her skills at typing and shorthand were used as a legal secretary for Arthur Lamey of the law firm of Coleman, Jameson and Lamey.
Genevieve married William Reymer on April 17, 1956 in Great Falls, MT. In the early 1960’s the family moved to Denver, CO where Bill was employed by Hendrie & Bolthoff, a large wholesale hardware and Gen worked part time at a law firm. In 1966 the family moved to Seattle, WA. Genevieve worked as an office assistant in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington until her retirement. During retirement, Genevieve volunteered at Our Lady of the Lake School and was involved in helping the Hmong Refugee Committee selling their beautiful fine needlework to support the families. Gen’s hobbies were knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading many books until macular degeneration led to a legally blind status. Bill and Gen returned to Billings in 2000.
Genevieve was a truly amazing woman who could still have a beautiful smile thru all of her many severe pains.
Genevieve is survived by her spouse William Reymer, a daughter Suzanne Marie Reymer of Billings, a brother James P. Visser (Barbara) of Billings, a sister Loretta M. Winters of Great Falls, MT and several nieces and nephews.
A son William Patrick Reymer, her parents and two brothers, Bernard J. Visser and John A. Visser and two sisters Ann Marie Visser and Teresa A. Kolesar predeceased her.
As a mother, Gen was always available for a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. She made her family a priority and was a loving friend to her daughter.
Cremation has taken place. Rosary service will be 7pm Thursday May 14th and the Funeral Mass will be 10am Friday May 15th, both at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
