Robert Stanley  Coley, Jr.


Robert Stanley “Bob” Coley Jr. was born in Billings on Oct. 3, 1938, to Robert Stanley Coley Sr. and Ruby Ann Hager Coley. He passed away on May 7, 2009. He was 70 years old.

He graduated from Billings Senior High in 1953, and worked at his first job as a Western Union bicycle delivery person. He served in the U.S. Army. After completing his stint there, he became an asbestos worker. He continued that career until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Randy Coley; and niece, Karen Boren.

He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Boren; nephews Robert Boren, Jeremy Coley, Matthew Coley; niece Laurella Boren; great-nieces Catherine Boren, Theresa Boren, Rayleigh Coley and Cassidy Coley; and nephews Randy Boren and Randall Coley.

He loved gardening. He loved animals, especially dogs. He was a gentle soul.

He had a photographic memory and recalled in detail family history, Billings history and Montana history.

His ashes will be placed at the gravesite in Mountview Cemetery with his parents on Monday, May 18. Family and friends are welcome to attend the gravesite rites at 10 a.m.

He will be missed.
